May sound easier than it is.

Check the Virginia state parks and see if they have a place to fish from the bank.

Good luck.  :)

if ya dont mind gettin wet, throw some gear in a back pack n wade out there when the water is low. theres plenty good fishin. PM me let me know where your at n ill try n give ya some advice.

If u want good shore fishing, there are a couple of Fairfax area ponds that are good.  Ashburn has some too I hear???  I never fish them but PM me and I will tell you what I know, which isn't a whole lot.  Also, Fountainhead, the Occ rez in general, and Bull Run marina offer some good shore spots.  Now that weather is cooling you could probably do ok fishing from the shore @ fountainhead.  Lots of wood.  There are trails all over that will take you into the coves too if you get tired of the main channel near the fountainhead boat landing.

Occ Regional Park maybe too?  That will put you closer to where the Occ river dumps into the Pota-mack.

Most, if not all of the Ashburn ponds are private. It's best to get permission from someone to fish there first. I've heard that the local Sheriff's office has been patrolling the area and issuing citations.

Good info. i did not know that. bet they are makin a ton of money. i drive by them everyday at work and see guys fishing. I dont think I have seen signs up but then again, never went there to fish so would know. The ffax ponds I know of aren't though, with the exception of one, which i dont fish either.

There are signs. The people you saw are probably doing so illegally OR are some of the many fishermen who reside in the neighborhood. Just FYI.
