WEST VIRGINIA SMALLIES.

What are the best waters to fish for smallies. (Lakes and rivers.)

New River, Greenbrier, Summersville, Upper Kanawha (dinkfest)

The new would be your best bet for quality smallmouth, but summersville isn't bad right now if you have a boat.

Thank you very much.

Honestly the best water in the panhandle area is the Potomac. You can wade out in the middle and just fish the small pools and rapids. Don't know about the rest of the state though, been to Greenbrier, and I'm not sure if there are smallies in there, but I do know there are largies in it.

Summersville is absolutely sick looking!!!  When I rafted below the dam, the lake was already down quite a bit.  Structure galore from what I could see.

Yeah, after the water drops, its a pretty nice smallmouth lake.  When the water's up, its really tough to find them.

Good to see other WV posters. Caught my first small mouth across from the Sheperdstown boat ramp  Only about 10 inches or so but was a real treat to catch first smallie ever. ;D My son and I mostly fish Poorhouse Pond and Cacapon Lake in Panhandle. Been to the river some but mostly lose equipment. Had our best luck with Jitterbugs, Yum Dingers(watermelon) and Yum Crawbugs(large). Would like to see more posters especially from the Panhandle.
