Raleigh NC area

Featured Replies

I just moved to Raleigh NC and was hoping some one can tell me a couple decent shore fishing spots. I use llures only and will not have my boat here until spring so I am stuck on shore. Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike S

depending what side of the city your on , there is lake wheeler , johnson , shelley , sharon harris , umstead park , durrant nature park and falls lake. shore fishing isnt the greatest up here but its not the worst. i may be up here for another few weeks before i move back to miami. so if you want to get together shoot me a PM.

I use to live in Raleigh when i use younger and let me tell you there is some big bass around. I remember my uncle taking me to some place called Donkey Lake i think. We caught some real hawgs there. It was kind of a drive from Raleigh though!

hey man I live in Raleigh. As far as shore fishing goes, I prefer private ponds. Durant Nature Park is decent. Umstead seems to be pretty good although I have never been. Not trying to take anyone away from BR, but I am also a member of NCAngler.com, its a website similar to this (on a smaller scale) that has lots of helpful information about shore fishing the Raleigh area and the rest of North Carolina. Hope this helps and welcome to Ruff Raleigh ;D
