Any reports on the Shadalicious yet?

Featured Replies

I have three packs of the 4.75 inch baits, but haven't used them yet.  They are almost too pretty to drive a hook thru...

Anyone used them yet?  How are they?  How is the durability?  How do you like to rig them?

Avalon, I got a pack of the 5.5 I believe in Chartruese shad by Strike King and used them for a day. I like the Kamikaze Treats better. The durability is great and you can use a butane lighter to "weld" them back together again. I use a Gammy 8/0 EWG hook and take solder wire and wrap around the shank of hook to give it a balanced ballist to keep the rig running in a upright manner. A lot of guys are pinching sinkers on and some mfg are molding lead on the shanks but its very critical to get it balanced to get that little wobble just right. The 8/0 is critical to get thru the wide meaty part of the swimbait.I've tried 5/0 and 6/0 and didn't get the hook ups when the bass strikes.IMHO Crowcommander

Where did you find 8/0 EWG hooks?  Biggest I've found so far is 7/0.

I believe 3:16 gives out a 9/0 with their frog ;)  Email Mickey and ask him where he gets them

Good find!!!!! Thats gonna help alot of people. What weight are you guys recomending for 5.5 or all lengths for that matter

I'm not sure yet. I ordered one of 1/16, 1/8 and 3/16 oz Critter Bait Hooks to start and will go from there. I bought the Falcon 3/32 oz 6/0 hooks to try but the fit was a bit tight. I'm hoping the 8/0 will be a better fit.

Yeah I have 5/0 owner weighted screw hooks (1/8 I think) for my Fathead Jr.s but they are too small and are tight to the body. I think 7/0 or 8/0 should do the trick. Mine swim allright so I am thinking 1/8 is about right for weight

Kamikazebait co has the 8/0 gammy hooks. I hope I spelled that right. Ask for David. Don't let the size intimidate you. They will catch 2 lb. fish also. They're just the ticket for big bass who are into lip piercing! Good fishing Crowcommander

Are they weighted?

No d.hark they're not weighted, you have to add weight by wrapping wire soldering around them or pinching the sinkers onto them. By the way, I did mispell the name, It;s Kamakazeebaitco.com 208-365-3470. The hooks are 45 cents a pop I believe and I recommend the 5.5 treat swimbait in Chartruese shad.Be sure to use good quality 20lb. flouracarbon and retie often because you will get broke off! You can add these.

Just talked to David at Kamakazeebaitco.com he does have the 8/0 ewg's unweighted in stock. He does have more off having weight molded on, be in soon. He also mentioned just getting in some Revenge swimbait heads 1/4 thru 1-1/2oz. He says its an open hook jig head for open water that makes the bait really do the body wobble that people in the know look for.
