Hologram 3D plastic stickbaits...

Anyone purchase recently? I've looked... found only one local source.

The ones I've found go by the name of "HoloSticks." I have a friend who is a semi-pro on a professional bass circuit, and he told me several of the pros are using them in clear water lakes with fantastic success, but keeping it a tight secret.

From what I hear, the process of molding a holographic image into a plastic stickbait was recently invented by someone in the USA who is currently awaiting a patent before he sells the process to a big lure company. Rumor has it that his idea was stolen by a now ex-relative, and that individual is having knock-offs produced in Cuba to avoid legalities and prosecution. Seems right now it's only by word of mouth, and you really need to have connections to get your hands on some. The local guy I've found makes you buy at least $100 worth, and he appears to be a bit shady, so I'm a little reluctant. Also, I really don't want to buy that much without testing them out first.

Below I've put a scan of the color chart that the local guy gave me.

I wrestled with the thought that getting them is wrong on several levels. But reality is, knock off lures seems to be a standard in the industry anymore. So if anyone knows where I can find them from a cheaper source, or in lesser quantities, please let me know. I'd like to get my hands on them before the upcoming tournament season starts, because when it comes down to it, it's all about the winning! Thanx.

I'll take $25 worth of the Nat (Natural I assume) color is someone else or a few of us are willing to split the other costs.  I am from NEPA not too far from the Poconos so let me know.

A 100.00 minimum order ? I'd tell him where to shove them and it wouldn't be on a hook!!!!!!!!! JMHO

They look pretty cool.

big ole' waste of money!!!!

save your money.

that bait is not worth it for two reasons:

1.) you can barely see the hologram in it.

2.) its not much different than a regular stick w/ holo flakes.

but if you MUST have some, do what i do:

if i like something, but dont want to pay for it, i will try my best to mimick it myself at least cost possible, and quite often it works. the fish dont care much either.

if i wanted those, i would take some prism tape, stick two pieces back to back. cut it in the little fish shape, cut a slot in the worm, stick the tape in there, and then seal the slot back up with a woodburner or any heated piece of metal really.

Minimum order $100?!   Seems like a bit much to me, especially if you haven't used one before.

lol. i should have known.

first thing i noticed about the pic is that i had seen the fish hologram before. ah, here it is: http://www.ingvar.is/Plants/Amerio/Herring.JPG oh and here it is again: http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/7671-photo-finishing-foil-faux-finishes-tutorial.html

both those photos were takin right off the internet. but since you made it seem like this was a "Garage Bait" that somebody cooked up, i figured they probably used the internet pic.

nice elaborate prank mr. zel ;)

but even if they were real i wouldnt buy them  >:(

haha boy I feel like a dope!
