brunswick > algonkian park - portages?

Featured Replies

when the upper potomac is at normal levels, are there any rapids i need to be aware of or portage between brunswick and algonkian park while kayaking (sot)?

could you recommend a map of that area? a map showing public land would be great.

thanks in advance

There are no rapids to worry about on that stretch but that is a loooooong float!

Get Penrod's book, Fishing the Upper Potomac. That will tell you everything you need to know about the river.

kayakist -

just called the old "angler's lie" (forgot the new name) and they have it in stock. going to pick it up after work...

let me know if you'd like some company when the river drops a bit.

There are two places to eat nearby that are tops in the area.

1. italian sub with sweet peppers

2. 1/2 chicken, fries and extra yellow sauce

Good choices...the orange sauce has a bite to it. I like the black beans and rice with the chicken.
