Beaverdam Creek Reservoir - VA

im not saying they need to build a park there or anything, but improvements upon the areas already open would be great. like removing some trees and making better areas to park. i just remember that place when it had much better access and shorelines that werent overgrown, of course that was the mid 80s...there have been times where i thought about going in there with one of those saws on a pole and cutting a few limbs off trees. i also thought about getting a jon boat or canoe, but now i took my old truck off the road and have no way to haul one lol...

The new Mt. Hope area is a BIG improvement for launching small craft.

i went on sunday. i parked about 20 feet from the water.  no problem for jon boats.

yep. those boulders were a huge PITA to lift a jon around

These boulders? I was out for a couple of hours on Saturday where I caught a couple of dinks. By the way, it was maiden voyage 2.0.

there used to be another big boulder right next to that one. You had to shimmy around/over it with boats.

Those were the ones! I believe they may have cleared a tree or some brush also.

the first picture is deceptive. You normally can't launch there on that side in the summer without getting muddy.

So....that leaves the second picture. With a heavy kayak or a jon that requires two people...it wasn't fun. It wasn't that bad but you would have to be careful where you stepped or you could trip on the rocks.
