Boat Rental in Northern VA/Ashburn?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

A buddy and I do a lot of fishing, but would like to do a little bit more boating. We don't have one so we are actively looking for a place to rent them. Maybe a scenic river float, or a state park with jon boats and trolling motors. Any input?

Thanks,

Hunting Run, Lake Brittle, Occoquan Reservoir at Fountainhead, Pohick Bay, Riverbend Park...I'm sure there are more that I am forgetting. Not all of them rent out trolling motors. The smart thing to do is buy your own trolling motor and battery and take it with you when you rent a jon. 2 or 3 jon+motor rentals will have already paid for a trolling motor. If you take your own motor it is MUCH cheaper to rent.

What Dan said, and, it's questionable whether or not the staff at these parks know how to operate a battery charger.  I would not depend on a rental battery to take me outside of convenient rowing range of the ramp.

Before I purchased a canoe, I did exactly that.  100$ motor, 50$ battery, 50$ charger.  200$ total, works out to like 5-6 rentals and its paid for....

Sounds like good advice, I think I'm going to have to invest. Thank you very much gentlemen.

just for future notes.  You can get a pretty good canoe from dick's sportinggoods for around 400. Also craigslist has some jonboat deals sometimes.  they were running near 1000 for trailer and so on.
