  1. In response to beaverdam question: I was out there this weekend. nothing. i did find some structure straight out from the mt hope road entrance, where the old bridge used to be. was holding a dozen fish in about 15 feet of water. none of em cared about what i had....
  2. anyone fished there? I have heard stories of it being the best lake in the area for Largemouth, and I have heard stories that they havent kept up the bass population and its a terrible place....
  3. good stuff.thanks fellas
  4. I purchased and seem to do pretty well with a mann's -1 crankbait. my question is, as i reel in, it looks to me like he swims like a crankbait on crack. like if a normal crank bait swims towards me, it goes left-right-left as it comes in. the mann's goes waayleft-waaayright-waaayleft. it doesn't look natural. is that normal? best way to describe is: |------|------| (other cranks) |----------------|----------------|(mann's)
  5. roosevelt island is not bad either.
  6. ive canoed at hunstman with my trolling motor, and no one has said anything.
  7. well thats nuts, and i really am not good at fishin! every saturday and at least 1 other evening a week, and im maybe at 150 or so heheh congrats on the good season so far.
  8. we were there saturday on a canoe from 5am-11am. 0,zip,zilch. tried the coves, shores, 10-20ft deep. tried everything, cranks, soft plastics, spinnners.......... the water was 78 degrees, that mighta had something to do with it
  9. 1291!!!! how often do you fish?
  10. A few more response to questions, Im using a 6'5" rod, med action. my worms are the standard berkley worms, nothing special, i do notice the ends of em are all torn up.
  11. well, amazing response. thanks all. The hook size i use i believe is a 5/0. either way on a 7 inch worm, the hook comes through just past where the worms heart? is. so that leaves about 2 inches or so of worm dangling. From what im reading, the bites im feeling feel like they may be dinks nibbling. Lets see what i can do this weekend.
  12. Anyone have any good info for this place. I hear its pretty good. any tips would be greatly appreciated. going to hit this place saturday.
  13. Ok so i have really gotten into soft plastics. Im wrigging the worm, usually weightless, with the hook being just barely sunk into the back of the worm, so its weedless. ( texas rig) I have been getting tons of hits on it. It goes a lil something like this: i feel the rod hit, bam, bam, 1 or 2 times, then i see my line moving, so i give er the whole heave ho, and nothing. Im guessing the fish is biting on the part of the worm hanging off the hook, the extra 3-4 inches of worm under the hook. How can i land the fish thats doing this?
  14. Thanks for the info, I saw some good stuff on tv about the spro frog. Imma check those out.
  15. Thanks Big-O, i will check that out.
  16. no idea, some cheap guy from dicks sporting goods
  17. So as you see from this and last post im doing some experimenting. none the less, this weekend I was throwing a frog into some grass along the shore. As i jerk the frog back, he hardly wanted to float. his head nose dove everytime, and he would spin on his back, do his front. he wanted nothing to do with looking like a normal frog. any ideas?
  18. ok, so I am looking to setup carolina rig on some rubber worms. I do the whole setup from the million videos i have seen. what i had expected was the weight to be on the bottom and the worm to almost want to float. the tail being higher up off the ground then the head of the worm. and with crawdad ragetails, the claws should be a few inches off the bottom. My setup results in the worm and crawdad just dragging along the bottom. If you were to look at my bait from the side i assumed a V shape, with the weight being the apex of the V. I get a weak dragging sad worm..... why?
  19. just for future notes. You can get a pretty good canoe from dick's sportinggoods for around 400. Also craigslist has some jonboat deals sometimes. they were running near 1000 for trailer and so on.
  20. Before I purchased a canoe, I did exactly that. 100$ motor, 50$ battery, 50$ charger. 200$ total, works out to like 5-6 rentals and its paid for....
  21. Im heading to Jersey City for a half days work. I am trying to find a spot to throw in for a few hours on the way home. I would like to not travel off 95 too far. any suggestions? I will be bank fishing...
  22. Work has unfortunately got in the way. so i took today off instead. went to beaverdam reservoir in ashburn, caught a monster that was almost as big as the lure i was casting >
  23. I think im going to hit the reservoir on friday. havent been there in a while. Any tips where to go? im dropping in at the fountainhead at the boat launch. in a canoe with trolling motor, so distance cant be a million miles. should i hit all the coves or stay out and hit the deeper stuff.....
  24. Im comtemplating dropping in at algonquin this weekend. Any advice for this section of the Potomac? Havent done much river fishing, im guessing same principles as lake/pond fishing when it comes to finding fish.
