what should i upgrade my rod/line to fishfordollars?

the lure it happens most on is brand new. so i assume hook is sharp. so i get the hit, rod bends, i give a fairly hard tug on it. if u are looking at me from the side, my rod is at 10am, i yank back to 1pm....i hope that makes sense.

using a medium 6 ft rod on 8lb test with a swim bait/frog/popper. I am reeling the fish in, i see him coming. then poof gone.

Ok, so now that i have fish starting to hit my lures. I get the strike, set the hook, and hes on....I keep a constant pressure on the line, and reel in. at some point, the fish gets off. not during a jump out of the water, not sure what im doin wrong, any ideas?

Ive have little experience fishing 15+ feet. what do i throw?

We fished the beaverdam today, hitting the grass beds all day long with everything. flukes, poppers, spinners, cranks...nothing.... any ideas?

The other day i was out there and noticed tons of fishing hitting the top of the water for bugs or whatever. being the genius i am, i put a floating popper on my line. 4 trips of about 1/2 hour each, i have hit for 8 or so fish. so in my mind, top water is where its at, right now. When do you think this will change?

So i went out last night to a local pond in ashburn va, and was crushing with my top water popper lure type thing. Does this mean the fish are done doin their groove thang, and are now hungry? I only landed 1, but had a ton of strikes in about a 20 minute period....

The weekend of the first im out of town, but the weekend of the 8thish in may Im up for goin anywhere. I have a canoe with trolling motor and i enjoy exploring new waters.... but either way, i just want fish for a bit, get some valuable knowledge and quit getting skunked.....PM me if your up for that weekend.

Im fishin fountainhead saturday morn, my brother is out of town, so i have a spot in my canoe if anyone wants to hop in. provided your not a serial killer id be happy to tote someone around....

fountainhead i have never had an issue renting either. 50$ or so for whole setup, got there early morning

ashburn pond, beaverdam creek reservoir, potomac river at roosevelt island i have tried everything. plastic worms, spinner baits, crank baits. slow retrievals, fast retreivals. muddy water, clear water.....

Anyone in NoVa want to meet up in the next few weekends and show a frustrated fisherman what hes doing wrong? I posted on the main page(frustrated at my wits end), but in summary, 8-9 trips, 0 fish. want to get some tips from someone live. I have a canoe with trolling motor.

Ok, In the last 8-9 fishing trips I have landed 0 fish. I need some help. I have tried spoons,crankbaits,buzz baits, worms, senkos, spinner baits. i tried slow reeling,fast reeling, fishing deep, fishing shallow. everything. murky water,clear water, every combo of the above possible.....0 fish. I have read these forums thouroughly. what am i doing wrong? Is there anyone who catches anything, in the northern virginia, specifically ashburn,sterling area, that would want to come out for a day and show me some things?

So I am going saturday to get a new fishing rod. What things do I need to think about? What factors do length,flex, have on my fishing? what are good brands? What do i want to avoid? thanks in advance for info.

So I fish in northern virginia, and theres a pond here with a creek that feeds it. I have pretty good luck in this creek. my question is, when i catch a fish, does the "fight"(me reeling it in) spook other fish. Should i move to another spot, or continue fishing there because I know other fish are there.
