Bass around Hattiesburg, MS

Featured Replies

I just moved here from Plant City, FL and am trying to find some places close by Hattiesburg to fish. I dont have my boat up here yet but really need to get out and do some fishing just dont know where to go.

Baker06,

Welcome to Hattiesburg.  I'm probably not the best one to reply here, maybe someone else will, but here goes.  If you are looking for public lakes check-out the mdwfp website (I can't post link here) and look under the "fishing and boating" tab.  They list the public lakes, have depth maps and fishing reports. The closest to Hatt., is Paul B Johnston State Park (also known as Geiger Lake), I catch a few there.  Little Black is in Purvis, never had much luck there.  I like Lake Perry in Perry County.  It is small so no skiers and usually catch a few small ones there. The bass fishing seems difficult around here, the lakes are small and get a lot of pressure but I'm not that good at it either.  As far as private places, I don't have connections there.  I would be glad to chat with you and tell you all I know about all the places I go around here or maybe we can plan a trip sometime.  I have an 18 foot bass boat and go alone when my wife doesn't go.  I just found this site and signed up to reply so I don't know how to send you a personal message with my contact info. Will help any way I can.  God Bless

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a good choice of a boat to buy. To fish around the lakes and rivers there. I have a family of 6 so I need help finding one that can hold all of us but not run a ground anywhere.
