Dedication!

Glad you had a fun time on SML.

Nice fish. Wish we could nail some of those during the summer months.

As for me, I will stay inside and enjoy Global Warming.  ;D   ;D   ;D

great fish man. true dedication!

That fish in any conditions is impressive..... the deep freeze we are in now, well that really is something.

How slow did you have to fish?  We talking like 5 minutes per cast?

We fished a 300yd strech of bank for 2.5 hours working structure form bank to about 40 ft. That fish was on a rocky ledge that stair steps. It slopes from bank to 12' then drops straight to 29' it then slopes out about 10 yds further about to 37' before dropping into creek channel thats about 70' deep. He was on that flat area in 29' to 37' and when I thought I was working my jig slow enough I'd slow down some more. So I would say each cast was 3 to 5 minutes or longer.

did you find this area on a map or did you just know about it?  im trying to learn SML so if you have any advice that you are willing to share, im all ears.

Nice fish!!!

That point in the background looks real familiar.  ;)

Nice work. You drop the spoon anywhere yesterday?

What point? There was a point in the background? ::) I thought about dropping the spoon but I never did probley should have.

Carrington, I started off using a map when I first started fishing SML you can learn a lot studying it. Most of the areas I fish I've learned are from 19 years of fishing on SML some are spots I found studying my map 19 yrs ago. The most important thing is pay attention to your electronics while fishing keep up with where why and how you caught a fish. SML is a hard lake at times. Our pre spawn starts late Feb early March with spawn in late March thru April with post spawn around end of april thru May . It depends alot on water temp and moon phase but that should put you in the ball park.

ok thanks for the information, maybe one day when i come down you could come out on  my boat and give me a few pointers or starting ideas.  Not saying to give me your spot but maybe general areas to check out because last time i went, i killed them the day before the tourny then they just disappeared and it was really annoying.

Yeah thats SML for you :( I can't count the times I've been on boat loads of fish only to come back a couple of day later to find nothing, go figure it seems to happen more on SML then any other lake. I'll be glad to join you someday or give you some helpful info just PM me. I find on SML you almost have to drop the trolling motor and find the fish each trip here they don't hang out long in any location.

Chris,

ok, thanks alot.  ill hit you up whenever i find out when the next tourny i will be doing on that lake is, thanks for the help.  i may do the weekend series event on the lake but im not sure yet.

ICE in the guideholes on the rod, that is true dedication!

Vapredhunter, have you ever fished Lake Anna?

There is a reason we call it One Fish Anna.

If you think SML can be tough, try One Fish Anna.  :D   :D   :D

what part of the lake is this? i fish around Crazy Horse and i get skunked a lot. im young so i dont know a lot and i haven't even gotten my old depth finder on my boat yet. but SML has definitely helped in my confidence for certain styles and shot down my confidence in others.
