Anyone fishing Lake Anna Now?

Featured Replies

I'm planning on taking a trip to Lake Anna this Saturday. I heard this is a power plant lake and that the winter fishing is good. If anyone could give me any information on some good spots to check out, or if it's worth making the trip it would be greatly appreciated! I haven't done much re-search yet I thought I would start here.

The lake is separated into two "sides" by dikes. One is called the "hot side" and is much warmer than the other because water is used to cool the nuclear power plant and the warm water is pumped back into that side. The other side is called the "cold" side. The "warm side" is private and requires access to private ramps to fish with a boat. It cannot be reached if you launch from the cold side.

Thanks I had no idea I would of went and ended up fishing the same cold water I'm already fishing, so the trip wouldn't be that fun. Nothing wrong with fishing cold water but I'm ready to catch a few!

I will send him a pm.

Thanks again guys!

I wonder if anyone on here has access to one of those ramps on the warm side?.

Can you reach the "Warm" side if you are a bank fisher?

There are a few spots you can reach from the bank but not too many.  The ones I know of are along the road that goes over the dikes.  Best bet is to Google Earth Lake Anna and see for yourself unless someone else out there can tell you the roads and give directions.  I'll be on the cold side tomorrow for a tournament.  It was scheduled to be on the hot side but we could not get a sponsor for the hot side.

Mudwalker how did the tourney turn out?

I ended up winning it but only because I was the only one who caught a fish.  It was 14" and 1.6 lbs!  It also got me the big fish!

You got some luck.

A win is a win.... and with these temps it is a job well done landing anything.
