Through Hell and High Winds...

Featured Replies

Well...I woke up at 5:00 this morning, went outside for my fishing weather forecast and it was chilly with a strong wind gust. Every bone in my body said "Go Back to Bed"...but I have been working my tail off, and through hell and high winds, I was going fishing. I loaded the yak, and launched around 7:00 at Lake Ida:

With the high winds, and the white capping of the lake, I knew some of my usual spots would be pointless as I could not hold my ground. I let the wind push my into a lilly pad bed, and I was greeted by a few of the lake inhabitants:

It was not before long, the "Wacky Rig" was doing it's thing:

Much better than going back to bed!!! ::)

Good report. Do you ever venture into the glades in the yak? I know a few areas you might enjoy and where you would probably be the only vessel on the water.

I'd give the El Rio a shot.  From what I've seen there is very little small pressure, and only a few places to bank fish.  I have personally caught LMB 6#+, snook, tarpon and jacks there, it's tidal.

Super pics. Good camera work.

Thanks for sharing.

When I see wind strong enough to create white caps it is time to stay home.  ;)

The only time I kayaked neat the Everglades was one time I launched a Mile Marker 31 in Alligator Alley. I launched on the side opposite of the actual boat ramp.
