Sturgeon Creek Marina, Lake Anna. Need advice!

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

3 buddies and I are renting a pontoon from Sturgeon Creek Marina tomorrow at Lake Anna and would love some advice or some hotspots. This is the first time we've launched from this Marina.

We're going to be using lures, but what would be the best live bait to invest in from the tackle shop? I'm thinking the old fashioned Night Crawlers.

We're going to be targeting Bass and Stripers but one of the guys wants to catch some Catfish.

Any advice/tips are appreciated! ;D

Thanks!

Fish the shoreline.

Fish backs of creeks and inlets.

Fish around docks and piers.

Fish under and around the bridge, especially along the rip rap on both sides of the road.

Fish any grass you see along the shore.

Get a GMCO map and hit Contrary Creek.

Have fun and post pics.  :)

I'll get a map from the tacklshop in the morning. Thanks for the tips! :). I'll also head towards contrary creek :)

Any ideas on good live bait for Anna?

nightcrawlers almost always catch fish, but you may want to consider minnows as well. the catfish guy may want to consider minnows and chicken livers as well

Head down towards Dike #3 and throwing shallow crankbaits around the rocks, SK bleeding minnow (sinking) worked wonders for me on Saturday. Docks in 12-15' right now is where the bass are suspending just off spawning flats in the colder water. Water down by Dike 3 is 56-58 and closer up river near the splits is where the water is still muddy and temps are 46-48.

Grab a Yum Dinger in smoke/redflake you will hammer them, rig them wacky rig
