So Cali fishing?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I just found out that I am going on recruiting duty next year. I have to go to school in San Diego in April. I have never done any west coast fishing, but would love to have a chance. If anyone here lives out that way I would appreciate it if I could maybe tag along for some fishing. I won't have any type of tackle, but would be more than happy to pay whatever for some fishing?  I will be there for 6 weeks starting April 29 of next year and the weekends should be free.

Hey Jeremy, hit me up when you head out this way.  I am about an hour and a half north of there but I spend a lot of time fishing SD bay for Spotted Bay Bass and Halibut.  There are also a few lakes that I am pretty familiar with down there.  One way or another we'll catch some. :)

Thanks,

I will stay in touch.

Hey I don't have a boat but if you want to split the cost of a boat rental and we could go to Diamond Valley Resevoir. Check out the place on the internet. If your interested throw me a line.

Great offer. DVL is about to go into prime time giant bass production.

Yes,

I will most definately stay in touch, that looks like some nice bass fishing. Thanks for the offer.

I am moving to San Jacinto in Riverside County from Alabama in 2 weeks. I have to buy a new boat when I get out, but I am willing to take someone along with me during free time. I am going to be fishing the Stren, FLW Federation, and possibly a team trail, but I would love to have company on my fun fishing/practice days. I don't have any friends in Cali or fishing buddies (except my 7 yr old nephew, wife, sister-in-law, and father-in-law). I have fished DVL (20 mins) from the house, Lake Hemet, and Lake Skinner.  I am really going to need to hang with people other than my family for the time I am living out in Cali, so any fishing buddies are welcome.

Jermyt and all Cal guys,

I live in San Clemente, just north of SD.  I get out as often as possible.... so let me know when your around.  I fish DVL, SD lakes ;), and have access to private lake.  Always looking for others to git lipped with.  Anyway, is your recruiting deal with the Marines?  If you are, then you will have access to the Camp Pendleton, which I hear has some great Large Mouth territory.  Anyway,,, just reachin out.

I live in Northern Cali now, but lived in Southern Cali for years. There is a man made lake called Laguna Lake about 1 hour north of San Diego (In the city of Laguna.) I've caught many 5 to 8 lb largemouth bass there. Someone caught a 14 pounder last summer out of that lake!

Are you talking about the Laguna Niguel regional park?  Pay to fish lake?  I live in this area, and can only think of this one lake that you might be talking about.  If it is, I would be very surprised if it could produce a 14 pounder.  Could you be talking about a different lake?

Jeremyt: I live in South San Diego about 20 minutes from both Upper and Lower Otay Lakes. Both are premier bass lakes in this area. Contact me when you get out here and maybe we can split a boat rental and wet our lines. I have MUCHO gear so that won't be an issue. You CAN fish from shore at Otay, but a boat is way better (except Upper Otay is shore or float tube only).
