Good place in California to take a bass fishing trip?

Featured Replies

Im looking to do a little road trip over the summer with a few buddies to do some fishing. Where in California would you recommend? I live in the Bay Area, so not somewhere too close.

A few must haves:

Boat Rentals

Good fishing

Decent place to stay.

Few other things to do while there.

Thanks..

My choices would be Diamond Valley or Casitas...Casitas has boat rentals and you can camp there. Diamond Valley is stunning and the fishing is excellent. They have rentals as well.

I have no idea where to stay or what there is to do around these lakes, but these are the only places I would want to fish in Southern California if I were livin in Nor Cal.

You might also want to condsider the San Diego County area. MANY great bass lakes around: Otay, Hodges, Dixon, San Vincente, most of which rent boats. There are many great hotels/motels all over the place and everyone knows that there are many other attractions to attend in your "non-fishing" hours (Sea World, Zoo, Wild Animal Park, beaches, desert to the East, etc., etc.). Just my thoughts on your question.

Clear Lake, ca.  It's about 120 miles north of you guys.  ;)  Bass capitol of the world.  Nuff said! lol
