Anyone on this board familiar with California lakes? I will be spending a week there on family vacation. I want to take my son fishing at some of the good bass lakes. I don't know where to begin, we be flying into San Jose and driving from there. What lures to take? Are there any cheap boat rentals on smaller lakes? Any suggestion? thanks in advance...

You'll want to hit Clear Lake no doubt, "they" say the next record is bound to come from that lake. Poppers, cranks, spinnerbaits, plastics.

You also might want to google the California Delta & Lake Castaic.

I would go to westernbass.com.They have a lot of info for lakes in that area,and fishing reports.You can also Google California lakes and you'll find a lot of info that way also.
