Shasta lake reports?...

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone out there has fished shasta this time of the year and had any luck if so please tell... Or if you have some fishing reports from december... thanks.  :)

I haven't fished Shasta Lake since late Nov., and the fishing was very tough. We had some nice weather for a week and then it dropped to low 30s just in time for me to hit the lake...

If you go to Shasta this time of year, you should fish main lake points. Try fishing with the boat position close to the bank and pulling a worm up the points from deep water to shallow. Darterhead with a 5" mothers finest hand poured worm. Good luck.

I know this is a post a couple years old but a couple wks ago out of 4 guys we caught 14 spotted bass in our local Shasta Lake, most around 2 lbs or so. Fished for around 7 hours but the bite was good. Obviously the fish were deep, about 20'-30' of water, and bait presentation had to be pretty slow for the most part. But answering your question, yes, fishing can be productive in December at shasta lake. We used 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz football head jig hooks (i think 4/0 size) with yamamoto twin tailed skirted hula grubs. Hope that helps haha
