Ditto to the above as well. Except it was both of my GRANDfathers whom I can't remeber meeting...to little. Sadly they both passed before I could meet them. If my Fathers, Father doesn't live throug Normandy...i'm not here now. Thanks Grandpa's! Thanks to everyone that perished in the attack. You will not be forgotten. I LOVE AMERICA!!!

WW2 was the most devasting carnage the world has ever known.

It was also a just and righteous war.

They call those of that era "the great generation"  they emerged from the most devasting economic depression in history, went immediately to the most horrible war in history, and built a new world with no whining.

True hero's.

Bolth my grandpa's fought in WW2. One in Germany and the other in the Navy in Japan.

The one in the navy shot down 2 suicide japanese planes. He said they where so close that he could see their faces while he shot them down. He said he could even see the "rising sun" bandana that they would wear around their foreheads.

He said it was a terrible thing shooting someone into the sea when they where looking right at you. He was usualy below deck, but it was during a battle and there was a shortage of gun men, so he ran up and manned one of the anti-air guns. He saw the plane coming. At this point of the story he always said: "I guessed its better than one of then die then our whole ship. So i shot him down."

He survived and died at 79 years old.

Amen, my Uncle Jack was at Pearl Harbor. He survived. I remember when he told us of that day once over a couple of cold ones. The guys of that era were stand up men. I cannot imagine. May they all be at peace in Heaven.
