Golf Question

Featured Replies

Last weekend I broke my new nine iron on the golf course (I hit the ball and the club head snapped off). I think I can get it reshafted or something. Does anyone know how much it might cost? Or, if this kind of thing can't be repaired, how much will a new nine iron cost (I have AMF clubs, not super expensive but not real cheap either)?

Club repair is usually very reasonable.  call any course or shop for contact info of a local person or shop to repair.

I brok my head off my 9 iron, took it to the shop and I have such cheap clubs they told me to just replace it.  But I told them nothanks, so they did something to it that cost like 5 bucks.  No problems and I have kept on using it.

Did the shaft break at the hosel or above?

If above, the repair won't be all that hard.

Cost-wise, you're looking at around $10-15 for materials.  $6-7 for a shaft, $2-3 for a grip, tape, and solvent.  Should take around 30 minutes-1 hour for the job.  Longer if the shaft broke inside the hosel (requires drilling).

When buying a shaft, make sure to get the proper size.  This measurement can be obtained by removing the remaining shaft from the hosel and measuring.

When removing a shaft from the hosel, use a heat gun or torch.  Be careful to apply only enough heat to loosen the glue/epoxy.

Just about every course pro knows someone who does club repair.  Or even do it themselves.

Thanks guys. My club is fixed now and it only cost me $26. I went on the course today and shot a new low score!

What club do you use for Bass suspended in 6 ft of water over a gravel bottom

Susupended in 6' of water calls for a six iron with a 7' G-Loomis MH extra fast shaft, a Shimano clubhead and a Power Pro grip. Everyone knows that.
