Do any of you guys get poison ivy? I got a bad case of it last week on just my fingers while out rabbit hunting, ya I get it in the winter!!! Must have grabbed hold of it sometime while in the brush. My finger are swelled up so bad I can't get my wedding ring off!!! I get it all the time, even though I try to avoid it, Man it's driving me nuts! Any old wives tales for a cure??? I've called my doctor many times before for prednisone, but he was closed today and I didn't call his answering service--should have

Calamine lotion helps. I dont get it but some guys that worked for me did all the time. They got some stuff from over the counter that was a clear  gel. I cant remember what its called. Just go to wal greens or somewhere like that. You can get calamine at dollar general.

Calomine lotion,,, and take a bath in tea, that is what my mom did for my brother one time, seemed to help

I however, am not bothered by poison ivy or oak,,, i can roll in it, and it dont bother me.

.Tea-tree oil soap.  My mom got me some for when I had some P.I. last summer.  The stuff is amazing and borders on magical.  

Just take a shower with the soap and be sure to use heavily on affected areas.  It takes away the itch as long as you don't scratch it "just for fun", it works like a miracle for me.  

And I think it helps the P.I. clear up too.

Friend of mine gets the stuff anytime he gets near it.  He uses household bleach.  The sooner the better.  Sometimes it doesn't blister up if he gets to it quickly enough.

I am one of the lucky ones, not yet allergic to P.I.. As a land surveyor I've been pulling it off of trees & fences with my hands for many years and have never had a reaction. I have actually given it to others by getting so much of the oil on my skin & clothes and then having contact with those alergic. The key is to get the oil off of your skin as soon as possible. It's very hard to remove, a regular shower won't do it. You must wash several times with feeling. Also, wash your clothes with shout or a degreaser. If you are extremly sensitive, throw the clothes away.
