Rage Tail Toad, techniques?

I used the search function on the forum but didnt find too much on it.

I picked up a bag of the rage tail toads and have been using them on my local dredge canal (yes its stocked with quality fish) with not one hit, swirl, or anything. I been rigging them weightless with a 5/0 Gamagatsu hook and been working it like a topwater frog, jerkbait, buzzbait, and everything. The colors Ive been using are just black/watermelon belly. Maybe its just the color? I dunno...

Can anyone give me some insight on the best ways to use these things? Thanks much!!!
