Need Help understanding the FROG bite!
All of this is true, I throw frogs every month of the year and have pretty good luck with it. The dinks still go for the frog but alot of really nice fish do as well.

What The Heck??!!!???
hahaha NICE I love it when crazy stuff like that happens to me. One time I was fishing a crankbait and I hooked into something BIG, when it came up it was a troutline with a 32" bull red hooked on one of the hooks, needless to say me and my pops kept the redfish and fed my family that day ;D

Fished a new spot today
I hit a new dredge canal I found today with some success. I went out at about 4pm and the wind was blowing pretty good, bluebird day and stained water, and probably close to 90 degrees on top of that. I started throwing spinnerbaits along points and weedlines. After I didnt get any hits on that I started just throwing about anything I could. I havent been fishing in a while so I didnt care I was just happy to be out there haha. After a while though I was wondering if there were any fish in this spot and then WAM! Nice hit on a buzzbait! I got him up to the bank and he spit the hook, he was probably a little over 2lbs, but I was stoked! Finally some signs of life! So I kept fishing till about 8pm and wound up catching 2 more on buzzbaits and missing a pretty nice fish out in the middle of the canal on a Rapala Skitter Walk. BIG roll but he missed it and never came back for round 2. Im REALLY stoked about this place, lots of clean fishing area, plus Ive found that most people who come here only fish for the nice crappie that I keep hearing are in here. Heres some pics of my new little honey hole!

Need help! How to rig this swimbait???
I recently bought some hollow bodied 5" swimbaits (Reaction Strike.) I figured since theyre hollow bodied to just rig them kinda like a frog with a corkscrew widegap hook no? That doesnt work, they just twist up and the tail barely works. I then rigged it weedless with a widegap worm hook, still does the same thing. Am I missing something? Any special hooks or ways to tie them that I need to know? Thanks everyone!

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone here is from Wyoming, specifically in the Laramie area. Im leaving this month for college up there (Wyotech) to get my associates in business/auto collision work/street rod/hotrod tech. Ive never been and Im tempted to bring a rod to keep me busy hahah. Anyways, thanks! Let me know if youre in the area and how the fishing is!

Longnose Gar Fishing
Here in La, while fishing its not uncommon to see them surface, big ones too. Biggest one Ive seen surface was almost the size of our boat, probably a few feet off (our boats 14') so Im guessing he was at least 10 foot in brackish water so that probably explains the size of him. Best way to snaggem down here is to rig a hangmens noose out of wire, and on the bottom of the wire you rig a chicken neck. Put this about a foot below a big cork and tie it all to some rope. Throw the whole shabang out there by hand and tie it off to something. When you see the big cork start bobbin, untie it and get ready to "set the noose" when you see the cork going down the canal PULL with everything in you, the noose will snug down on his topjaw and youll have one hell of a fight on your hands. Im 19 and I think Im pretty fit, these things are MONSTERS though. IF you can get him in, bring him home and scrape the meat out of him. Mix it with some spices, peppers, and maybe a pork base and roll them into meatballs. Throw them in a pan with some spaghetti sauce and bake it. When its cooked take it out, make some noodles and boom, gar sketties! Sooooooooo good! hahaha

Chasing Monsters in the Bayou
Getting ready to go hit the lower Barataria/Laffite area Louisiana where I live in a little bit for the evening bite. I know theres big bass in my little honey hole and now I think Ive got the answer to them, weedless swimbaits, which I just stocked up on. Im new to swimbaits so I hope I get some kind of reaction from them, even if its only a few smaller fish Ill be happy. Im bringing my camera, my tape measure and alot of hope hahaha. Ima let you guys know how I do. If I take any pics Ill be sure to post them up for yall. By the way the swimbaits I got are Reaction Strike's 5" hollowbodied Fatheads. Im pretty excited to see what happens! 8-)

Spawns over....now what?
Indubitably!

Should I or not?
I agree with this. Watch your line 24/7 (unless fishing a topwater or a visual bait) Any little taps, ticks, bumps, if your line jumps or moves the tinyest distance or any kind of weight on the end of your line, just reel down any slack and set the hook. Even if its just grass or something, it means youre intune with whats going on with your lure and thats the main thing. If your fishing a topwater, or a visual bait (Like a Fluke) When you see a fish hit, dont panic, just let him take it, and dont set the hook until you FEEL the fish. I JUST learned how set my nerves down enough to do this and it helped greatly and is pretty d**n fun watching fish go nuts on your lure hahah. Good luck!

Lots of followups (Wakes behind my lure)
Thats true, but the thing is the canal I fish in is totally fresh water, and has no ditches or estuaries that lead to brackish or salt water. So it was either a gar which I doubt, they usually make a big scene at the hookset haha, or a big bass which Im leaning towards because this thing imediately dove for heavy cover and basically stayed in one spot throbbing or "digging" in the stuff. My biggest bass thus far has only been around 6 pounds, and I caught that when I was really little so Im not too sure on what a really big bass fights like...but maybe now I know?
