About two days ago I was mowing the lawn when I came upon a bunch of clumped up grass...

I noticed some fur in the clump so I looked under it and saw some baby rabbits, they looked really young, only about maybe 3 days old..

I didnt notice any mother rabbit around and was curious if she is supposed to take care of them or what?

Do they feed off of the mother or just wait until they can eat vegetation..

Its been about two days now and I just went out and checked on the little buggers..they seem to have grown quite a bit from last time I seen them, but still no signs of the mother or anyhting

I am also worried because there are a lot of cats in the niehgborhood that sometimes roam in my yard  :-/ :-/

Found a clump of them the other day in my yard as well ......dead. I am guessing it was cats. Very small puncture wounds. I have a dog, but I don't think a 100 lbs lab would have been as "neat".

Here is my experience this year.  A mother rabbit had her litter in a barrel flower box at the base of our backyard steps.  I noticed it by the clumps of rabbit hair covering the baby rabbits.  The mother was not to be seen most of the day, except in the evening when she came to suckle them.  After a few days, the baby rabbits stayed in the box hidden under the rabbit fur during the day, but jumped out of the box to suckle when she came around in the evening, then after playing awhile went back into the barrel flower box for the night.  This lasted around a week, and then she moved them to another area in the yard under a pine tree.  It was a sight watching 2 crows trying to get to the bunnies under the pine tree, and the mother jumping in the air and attacking the crows.  I know there are still 3 bunnies (out of six) left in different parts of the yard. The mother still visits them in the evening, but will not let them suckle anymore.

i have babies every year my dog killed 2 once, i felt so bad. i was sitting there and she was sniffing around. then like 1 min later i hear a scream like you cant believe and its the baby rabbit flying around in my dogs mouth. i ran over and stopped her but the rabbit died. uhg i get a turned stomach thinking about that rabbit scream now 3 years later still. anyway the others in the hole lived i put them back in the nest and they are still around. today. just leave em be and try to keep the cats away best u can

Rabbits are very good eating. Just keep an eye on them for a few more weeks.

Then just skin them and take some butter and vinagar, soakem for a few minutes and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Reel Good.

Oh yea if those cats give you any trouble you can cook them the same way.

Ya true but cats aren't a native species to America just bobcats ,lynx, mountain lions .A lot of Americans say o its natural there cat killing a rabbit or squirrel they don't realize domesticated cats have a impact on our wildlife if left to hunt .I know in Maryland cats running loose like dogs are subject to getting trapped or shot legally if they are after livestock and the law also says both animals shall be kept on your own property or they can get picked up by the animal shelter.peopel letting there cats out to do the Natural thing think its cool and all till there cat is a rottie toy or a sailcat

My older sisters raised rabbits for years and years. The best thing you can do it not to touch them and try to keep the cats out. If human sent gets on or around the babies the monther will abondon them.
