Outdoor Writer Tim Tucker killed in auto accident

I am still in shock, but I thought you ought to know the sad news that outdoor writer Tim Tucker was killed in a car accident today near his home in Florida. Ken Duke of BASS, confirmed the news. Tim was either going or coming from a baseball game with his son, Kyle and another boy, when the accident occurred. Details are incomplete. Kyle was injured and in the hospital, but the other boy apparently is OK. Neither Tim's wife, Darlene, or their daughter was in the accident.

Although the story was an early file, the Gainesville Sun ran the story of the crash on its web site, but with no victim identification. Visit

http://www.gainesville.com/article/20070716/SUNFRONT/70716013 and there is information about the crash and a photo of the highway backup.

I am sure more information will be forthcoming, but knowing how you know Tim, I thought you might appreciate the heads up.

Please pray for Tim and his family.

Our prayers are with his Tim's family.  I've been reading his articles for years, and whenever I see him on TV, read his name, or even think about him, my mind goes back to the infamous "Bitter Classic Incident."  If you remember, it was Tim Tucker that was riding with Jim Bitter when he lost the winning fish of the Bassmaster Classic over the side of the boat while measuring it.  The crazy thing was that Bitter wasn't even going to measure the fish (he thought it was long enough), but Tim questioned it's length.  Just one great memory of a great man.

What a sad day. I've been a fan of Tim's for a long time.

Tim and his family will be in my prayers.

My prayers to the family and Tim. I remember the Jim Bitter incident when Tim reported on it. He was a great outdoor writer and always seemed to add some human aspect to his stories.

This is terrible news.

I read his article on fluorocarbon lines in the July/August issue of Bassmaster Magazine and the article was excellent.

I also remember seeing him on TV.

This is a terrible loss to all of the bass fishing industry.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

It really saddens me to hear this. What a great bassing writer and ambassador for bass fishing! I've enjoyed his articles for a long time.My prayers are with his family and loved ones. He'll surely be missed.
