Big Brother and the holding Company

Featured Replies

I was listening to some old vinyl.

I continue to be astonished by the power and expressiveness of this youngster out of port Arthur Texas.  She was truly a phenomenal vocalist.

Now here's a question for muddy.  Where did they find the drummer?

I get the feeling that he was banging on garbage can lids when some one had this amazing flash of brilliance (LSD) and decided to use him in the  session.  He sounds worse than my uncle paulie did when my cousin vito chocked to death on the baccala.

Hey Avid She was great that whole band sucked. Get the Pearl album with her other band Full Tilt Boogie now that's a band! 8-)

Janis overshadowed them all.  The later bands kept the beat and played what they were supposed to, but they didn't play anything that I would consider brilliant.  Big Brother did play some ugly stuff.  From sloppy guitar work to crappy drums, they had it all.   ;)  I still like listening to Janis though, including the earliest stuff.

Hey Senile: I saw their one show in NYC and Full Tilt Boogie was a smokin band live!

Of course I was smokin at the time so who knows for sure

Say what you will about BB&HC, but the bass player kicked butt!  I don't know who it was, but just listen to "Try a Little Bit Harder" and you'll see what I mean...er, hear what I mean...

I hate to say it but i did, what so difficult or great about what he's doing? That whole band rots, in a less drugged out time they would not havge even been recorded :o  The MONKEY:S had harder charts to play
