After 15 years playing my Takamine, I decided it was time to break down and get a new axe.  What a great sound this guitar has, plus, its got an AMAZING pick-up!  A little bit pricey, but a few gigs and it will pay for itself.  I've played it so much since yesterday, I think I need to replace the strings already

hey nice guitar!!! my first acoustic electric was an ibanez and it was a beast. now i play a 60's b-25 and i put a martin goldtone undersaddle pickup in it which is amazing and it feels like a privilege to be able to play it. im on the hunt for a 1971 martin D-35. i love the b-25 im just looking for something with some more bass.

Thanks for all the replies, dudes!  It was an exhaustive process finding this guitar; I must have shopped at least 25 different guitars before I found this one.  The only thing I have to get used to is playing it without an amp since its a 3/4 width guitar and it sounds kinda cheap without the pickup.  No big deal, though, as I bought it to use live and I'll always be plugged in.

Muddy, lemme know when you're up in RI (I have an uncle who lives there); maybe I'll take a road trip and jam with you and LBH for an evening.

Very nice guitar.  I own an Applause (Ovation low-end) acoustic-electric.  It was my first guitar (I've had for about two years now).  It's OK, but sounds kind of tinny.  As I learn more, I intend on buying a better one soon.  Any suggestions in the $250- $500 price range?  I lead worship at church, so would like to stay with an a/e guitar.

50th Anniversary custom fender strat. All blue body, black pickguard and grover machine heads with matching color hardware. Black Seymour Duncan Hot Rail pickups in the bridge and neck.

I mainly play old Metallica ranging from Master of Puppets to Black, I play a lot of Tremonti licks back from his days in Creed (he's my fav axe wielder). Next to that I'm into anything heavy riff wise like Papa Roach or Avenged Sevenfold. Mainly metal, some screamo stuff, heavy rock.

Had to quit because my job did not allow enough practice time and concert time. Fun times though. I warn you the singing... or screaming for that matter is a little much (another reason I didn't wanna continue). The guitars and drums rock though.

Thanks Murray.  In my early twenties, my Dad owned an Alvarez regent (non-electric).  He "indian-gave" it to me once before taking it back and selling it to my aunt ( I told him after the fact that I would have paid him for it).  I remember that it had a good tone to it.   It's interesting that you gave the link to musician's friend.  My current guitar came from them as well as various sound equipment, cords, stands, etc.  I've always been impressed with their stuff, prices, and customer service.

i kinda have a soft-spot for local music stores. they kinda get the shaft because of guitar center.

If ever you fellas get the chance you should make it to W 48 st NYC original home of stores like Manny's, Sam Ash and the Modern Drum shop. Best and widest selection and the lowest prices, bout the only thing NYC has cheaper than most. They all have play rooms so you can actually try em out. A few great used guitar stores on the block too 8-)

Look into Takamine.  You can get a pretty good sounding guitar for about $500, and if you can find one used you'll get a better model for that money.

I'll keep the Tak, probably bring it up to Vermont for the winter so I don't have to schlep the Ibanez up every other week.  I thought about trading it in, but I just love that guitar too much to get rid of it.
