Today me and my friend hid our tackle on the bank and swam acrossed the lake. While we where on the other side taking a breather two ganstas went and found our stuff (they must have seen us hiding it, we hid it super good) and stole it. We swam back as soon as we could but when we got there they where out of sight. We ran after them and found them in a small trailer park a little ways off. We called the cops but after several hours of not making any progress the cops gave up. I had around $200 of tackle in my bag and my friend had a little less in his. Heck, they even stole my unopened bottle of iced tea! We searched the woods for a long time incase they left it somewhere. No results. Thankfuly we hid our rods someplace else and they whernt stolen. (now that would have been devistating)

I've really lost all hope for this world. I mean really, what kind of jerk steals fishing tackle that he will probaly never use from some kids that are swimming? You cant let a single thing of value out of your reach these days, becuase some low life will steal you blind. Besides my rod and my bike, that tacklebox was the most vaulable thing I've ever owned. It's one thing for me to leave somthing somwhere then someone finds it and keeps it. I'ts another thing when some guys steal our hard-earned stuff that we use and injoy daily right out from under our noses. I've swam out for many of those lures several times, and I've gone to heck and back to earn money for them and to save them from a snags. I love bass fishing with a passion and that tacklebox was my pride and my joy.  Then all the sudden, in the amount of time it takes for a man to decide to do it, it was all taken away.

Moral of story:

The next time your tempted to steal somthing, think twice, and remember this.

I feel your pain man. I had my most expensive baitcasting combo stolen this spring. Now that was a terrible feeling.  :-[

Is this not the second time something has gotten stolen from you?  If you really appreciate your gear you should try to take care of it better.  I'm not saying shtuff doesnt happen, but that could have been easily avoided.  I agree it sucks, but try to learn from this, and whats life without a little struggle anyway?

Sorry to hear of your loss. Such is more prevalent today now that it is so widely accepted that character does not really matter and that it is only performance that counts.  Our society it seems has an ever increasing number of those that believe in the ideology centered on self gratification and it's all about me rather than the ideology that is not mine so I have no right to it, work to earn it and service to others is rewarding. :'(

Thankfuly we hid our rods someplace else and they whernt stolen. (now that would have been devistating)

Just courius...  Why would you take the time to hide your tackle in one spot and your rods in another.

During the spring I had forgot about one of my combos and left it a couple hundred yards off from where I was fishing. As soon as I remembered I went to get it and it was gone. That was my fault.

This time we hid the our stuff the best we could. We had talked to the guys who stole it earlier, and aparently they came back and saw us hide it. This time it was downright theft. The stole it right before our eyes. What else could I have done?

From now on, I'm not going to let my fishing stuff out of my reach.

We hid our backpacks with our rods off the trail under bushes in a ditch. Then we noticed our packs (wich had our tackleboxes in them) where to noticable. So we took them and hid them under the dam. (not visible enless you climb down, walk through the water and go right under it)

Thanks for listening to my rant...

Bucket- Don't lose all faith in the world, there are still good people out there,...like yourself ;)

That's a serious bummer man. Sorry.

Hey jfowl, Struggle is part of life sure, but struggle at the hands of another without repercussion is an injustice. Ultimately don't we all want a life without struggle? I don't think having anything of mine stolen has ever made me a better person.

Thanks alot for the offer.

I still have a half decent amount of hardbaits and my intire softplastic collection left (i didnt my softplastic's tacklebox with me)

So although this whole thing is a major setback I can still go out and catch fish.

However, my friend Sean (sean_e_bus_12 on this forum) had his intire collection stolen, so he has next to nothing as far as tackle is concerned. He's the fellow who needs your baits the most. I still got a couple handfuls of hardbaits that I have lying around and plenty of soft plastics. If you got stuff you want to put to a good use, talk to Sean. It might be hard to contact him on this forum, so if you have trouble talk to me and I'll pass the word on to him. (he isnt on here much, and Im pretty sure his interent is down, so he will have to use my PC to acsess his PMs)

Thanks alot anyhow :D

I am putting together a package with hardbaits and plastics. Let me know his address w/phone number, the type of fishing he likes, types of lakes and I will make you a list of what is coming. If you or he needs to call me it is 281 224-8853.  Waiting your reply. Jack

Fish4$$- I (via ***) already have the plastics covered.   ;)  Just paying it forward, Brent re-supplied me when my stuff got clipped.  Correction,..re-over-supplied.  Everything happens for a reason :)

My wife's FAVORITE saying..... and it really does come true!  ;)

They'll get theirs.

LBH if you have the plastics covered I think I will throw in several of those Japanese crank baits. Hope I don't remember what I paid for them, I bought the whole lot on EBAY. He still has not sent me his address so I am just on hold.

Well today is Wednesday. Sent PM and replied asking for address to send the lure packet. Have heard nothing. On hold until I get an address and phone number. What's up with this. Could it be a hoax?

Man i wish we could still swim here in kansas, its been way to cold, the water has dipped below 70 degrees and thats too cold for me

  • Super User

Hey LBH, have you heard anything from those kids about the tackle? Are they just jerking our chain? Do you have an address?

Hey guys

LOL nope this isnt a hoax.... I interent has gone berzerk and I havnt been able to get online for days. It still doesnt work, so right now Im on a PC at school. Sean's PC has had major tecnical difficulty for quite some time and he doesnt have interent acsess either. (last time I check he ordered a new PC that was suposed to come in yesterday... but IDK becasue I havnt talked to him for a number of days due to schedule conflict)

SO.... I can only get online (as of now) after school. Im pretty sure BR is blocked at Seans school so I dont know how long it will take him to check his PMs. I'll try to talk to him tonight and update him. (so far I havnt even been able to tell him about you guys)

I'll make sure it is OK with him and I'll try to PM his adress to all of you if he cant. If that works I'll PM it to you guys tomorrow around 3pm.

Sorry and thanks

Matt

Hey guys

First off...

THANKS A TON!!! You guys really know how to make a fellow's day. :D

Seccondly, I have two acounts on this forum, one older one that I forgot my password too, and this one. I just checked my PMs and I have no new messages. You probaly sent the PM to my other acount. If so, please resend to this one. (that goes for everyone who might have PMed me in the last month)

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks alot once again! You guys are the real deal.

Sean

Well while we're at it I was out last weekend and also got some of my tackle stolen. Unfortunately for me though I lost ALL my tackle. Crankbaits, buzzbaits, spinners, plastics of all kinds, jigs. I had about 4 3k yard spools of various lines, scales, sunglasses. And worst of all I lost all my rods. 7 Loomis GLX baitcasters with Calcuttas, Calais and Revos and 3 Loomis spinning rods with Stellas. You can pm me or email me I'll read either one. And if you need my number I can give you that too.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously that royally sucks to get your gear stolen but like Russ said don't get discouraged not everyone is bad people. Just look at the site and what we have here.  ;)
