I never belived in ghost intill this weekend.

Featured Replies

I think I saw a ghost when I was younger. But as being a kid I just shoock it off. That was intill this weekend. I was taking a nap friday afternoon and it felt like some one was sitting on my chest. I also woke up a few times gasping for air. Then saturday night I was making a bowl of lucky charms. As I was pouring it a can opner came flying at me. At first iam thinking the bottle of liquid smoke that feel off the back of the stove hit it. But the can opener went clear across the room. Then I also rembered that there was a box of wheaties was in front of the can opener. So What happend I don't know. I have also come home and water is running. So I turn it off then later Its back on. By the way I wasnt drunk, Stoned, or on any other thing that could affect me in any way. So I guess I now belive in ghost.

Bad Acid Trip???    J/K!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Sometime strange things happen to all of us,  many prefer not to talk about it.  Some even go as far as trying to convince themselves that it never happened.  I don't think we understand half of the things like this because of the human mind's ability to only seek logical explanation.   Now I sound like I'm on acid!!!   It's late!!!   :o

I've got a recent story like that too.

Like a month ago me and my two friends where making pearsauce from the pear trees in my back yard.

I took a metal two-pronged fork thingy (the big kind that you use for carving a turkey) and stuck the prongs in a pear on either side of the core, trying to turn it and thus coreing the pear. Well the pear was a bit more hardy than I suspected, and I pushed a bit to hard, and one of the metal prongs on the fork broke clean of. (about half way down the prong) I figured that the broken piece was still stuck in the pear, so I threw the pear out. Then I set the broken fork thing on the table and continued peeling pears.

Now, up to this point, my two friends saw everything that happend so far. All three of us saw the broken prong clearly, and we have no doubt about it that it was broken.

About ten minutes after this, I looked over to the fork and much to my utter surprise both prongs where completly and flawlessly in one peice! A welder couldnt have done a better job, there wasnt a mark on it. We stood there dumbfounded for a few minutes. I tried to break it again but couldnt.

Now I live in a huge house (30 rooms not including hallways) that was built by a senator in 1867, then later was owned by a doctor and used as a funeral home. A lot of fishy stuff happens around here but this one was by far the most concrete and honest-to-goodness. I have no idea how it is earthly possible to fix a broken prong on a big metal fork in 10 minutes without making a sound, moving it, and leaving it good as new with not a single mark on it. It sent a chill up my spine.

I swear if I didnt see it with my own two eyes I never would have beleived it.

I'm with you tipptruck1 ! ;)

Back in 2003  me and a hunting buddy of mine, that I grew up with and have known all my life, went coon hunting on this land he just acquired.  It was around 1 A.M., and his dogs, which were two ruthless Blue Ticks, had just crossed through a narrow corn field between two tree lines.  We heard them yelping, and growling which was completely out of character for them.  They seemed to be both scared and defensive.

We caught up to them, and they were standing at the edge of the tree line and wouldn't enter the woods for any reason.  Our first thoughts were that it was a cougar or a black bear that had wandered too far West.  I walked up to the dogs, and went past them, and as soon as I entered the tree line I got a cold chill down my back!  I then backed out, and walked back to my buddy, and told him "I wasn't goin' in there!"   ;D He laughed it off, and went in, but the same thing happened to him.  He got an eary feeling about 3 feet into the tree line.  He described it as an 'impending doom' or 'uncontrollable fear'.  Neither of us had ever felt that way, so we decided to go back the way we came, but the dogs wouldn't stop growling at the trees.

We went back the next day to see what the deal was, and we ran across 5 grave stones that he never knew were there.  They were grown up with thick locust trees, and vines were everywhere.  We found the dates after careful examination, and found that all of the death dates were the same. One adult female of 28 yrs., and 4 young children. So, we decided to go to the graves registry in our town, and look them up.  They weren't on the deed, or the land plat, and they weren't in the registry which is very uncommon.  We were at our whits end when a lodge member suggested we contact the Daughters of the American Revolution.  We did, and they found out the story on the graves.

We found out that all 5 members of the family were killed by the hand of the husband / father.    It was the most brutal murder in these parts at the time, and the local paper had a description of the event.  He was later found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging.  The wife's parents were responsible for his body since they were the only surviving members of either side of the family, so they burned his body in the area of the graves.

We decided to go to the previous owners who were somewhat 'backwoods' by our standards, and see what they knew about the graves.  They told my friend that the gravesite was one area of the property that they would never step foot on.  He had owned the property since inheriting it from his father, and his cousin had shot himself amongst the graves when he was just a little boy.  Since then the family considered it to be 'tainted' ground.  The previous owner then said "Somethin' is in there!"  with true conviction, so we've never been back to that area of the property.

Seeing as though we are sharing "why we believe in ghosts"

My grandmothers house was built in 1732, was used for a few funerals and such. But before she bought it a nurse and her husband lived there, she ended up dissapearing, legend has it he killed her and cemented her body in the oven in the basement. We lived there for a little while and experienced the usual stuff. lol. Can openers and microwaves magically turning on at 2am. In January when there is a foot of snow and its 15 degrees out all the upstairs windows in the house would be open. Just crazy stuff. The chandelere in the living room always moves and jingles on its own. The two really crazy things I have witnessed are a gallon of milk that was in the middle of the table flying off and crashing into the wall and milk going everywhere. The other being a little toy I used to play with when I was younger, the type of toy you push and there is a clear bubble where balls pop up and down. It was always on top of a toy chest and one night my grandmother was awakened to the sound of that thing popping like someone was pushing it. Needless to say she woke up and there was no one around and the toy was in the other room.   :o

Many inexplicable events happen to everyone but we cannot assume it is a "Ghost" or of "Supernatural Nature". Look for another logical reason for what happened. If you are left in the end with no possible explaination then you can assume it is of Unknown origin.

I've had unexplained events happen to me and my mother in our houses but it's nothing that we can't come up with a logical explaination for. For my own personal reasons I will keep those stories to myself lol.

Try not to jump to conclusions. A good idea to do would be to look up information on your property/home and if any major events happened in your location (deaths, fires, disasters, etc.) then maybe you can get a possible explaination.

My father is a big fanatic of "ghosts are not real" and every time I try to bring up the subject he gets p'd off, so I've learned to just keep these things to myself.

Good luck!  ;)

Oooooogy Boogy Boogy Boogy, Ooooooooogy Boogy Boogy Boogy Boogy ;D

Sorry, didn't mean to scare anyone.

Pretty disturbing stuff guys, especially the fork and the grave site. Now I'll sleep better tonight....J/K ;)

Bucket, I know what you mean about living in a big house. When I was a child I lived in an old plantation house that was built in 1844. It was three stories and had 21 large rooms. I'm talking rooms with 18 foot ceilings. Many famous people stayed there like Ulysses S. Grant. Lots of strange noises and happinings in that house. The Historical Society bought it and they take care of it now. ;)

I like this thread guys...its neat to hear all the stories (*luckyinkentucky).

If the ghost is capable of moving a can opener, it's capable of moving a broom. Tell it to clean the house up.

Seriously, though. It was probably just a....

Wait, you eat Lucky Charms? Maybe it just wanted you to eat the Wheaties. It's looking out for your health.

Maybe it's a female ghost, and maybe she's hot.

Man, you're lucky. A house cleaning, health conscious, hot female ghost.

luckyinkentucky's post does send shivers up a mans spine. That would definatly creep me out. :-?

Iam sure my grandma would love it if it was a ghost that picked up a broom. Becasue It just sits around doing nothing. But john said I sure I could come up with a reason why it flying across the room. But I cant think of a reason why I felt like some one was sitting on my chest. And me waking up gasping for air. Monday night I heard foot steps in the business I live above. I know know one was there. Becasue this was like at 1 am. Maybe iam finally losing my mind or all them paint fumes are getting to me at school. Yes I do were a breathing device when I paint. The teacher makes us and iam glad he dose. He was telling use about clear coat that hardens in the lugs over a peroid of time. Then I would get sick or even die from it.

We have a friendly ghost at my house.

We can smell his pipe tobacco on occassions and he likes to open the downstairs closet door in the foyer.

There are three cemeteries around our house that were part of a large plantation back in colonial times.

We found the only slave cemetery and one white cemetery, but we cannot locate the second white cemetery.

Now there is a big mall on the majority of the property so we will probably never find that third cemetery.

Also, one of my clients, Alexandria City Public Libraries, had a boiler room in the Queen Street location that none of the cleaning staff would enter and the cleaning staff would complain that the library was haunted.

I went down to that boiler room to check it out and it was COLD and SPOOKY and I ran out and never went back.

When the library decided to renovate and expand the Queen Street Library it was found to have been built over a cemetery.  Like lots of graves beneth it. And no one at the Library had any idea.

So each body had to be exhumed and reburied before the renovation and expansion work could begin.

Now I hear the renovated library has no problems with ghosts.

And being from South Louisiana I do believe in the supernatural.  In fact, there is a plantation above Baton Rouge that is haunted.  Many folks have run out of it in the middle of the night.

I wanted my son and his bride to stay there on their honeymoon but my wife squashed that idea.  I thought it would be funny.

Tipp,

That's hilarious, "making a bowl of lucky charms." You sound like you have my "cooking" ability ;D

Basically all I said Tipp was to be a skeptic, there's a possibility that what you experienced was supernatural but there's many explainations to certain 'supernatural' phenomenon. The can flying across the room is something unusual, the pressure on your chest could be something natural. The muscles in your chest could have contracted during your sleep and that will inhibit breathing, also if you have asthema that could cause it also as well as other respiratory illnesses such as colds, phnemonia, etc.

I am not saying that you didn't rule out every possible situation, I am just saying to keep a logical perspective in mind. Have you told anyone else about this? (Family, friends, anyone other than this board?)

And like I said before, do some research on the history of your property. Most of the time 'hauntings' revolve around tragic events that has happened in the area in the past.

I can understand that some events like this can frighten you and can cause you to jump to conclusions (I know, I've had it happen before lol). But my take-home message would be to keep a logical mind.

I would suggest talking to your parents about it, maybe they can help you come up with a explaination. Then if not, well then I've got to say you've got a Casper in your home lol! :D;)

Good luck! 8-)
