Is It Just Me???

Featured Replies

Is it just me or did we just skip Thanksgiving this year?

Everywhere I go I see Christmas decorations, and Christmas 'jargon' on sale.  It's almost like we just decided to skip Thanksgiving this year, and go straight for the good stuff.   :)

I heard somewhere that they decided to start advertising 3 weeks earlier this year to give people more time to shop.   ::)    A pretty clever marketing ploy, but if we have more time to shop .... won't we buy twice as much?   ;D

I just think it's pitiful that we skipped Thanksgiving celebrations this year, and are already looking to Christmas without appreciating the meaning of Thanksgiving.

What do you think?

They did that because retail sales are down quite a bit and the retailers are worrired that they will not make it into the black for the fiscal year.

Yes, it's not new, but it does get worse every year.

The sad truth is that Thanksgiving is the #1 family holiday of the year.

It is a completely American, not religious celebration of gratitude.

Except for Butterball Turkeys and a few other specialty items it is not a big cash cow for retailers.

Christmas on the other hand can make or break the entire year for many retailers.  Hence the hoopla and the hype.

Holidays are all about sale and profit now days if dont make money then be done with it. Whats the world comeing to.

I got home a little late this evening and it was dark.  I noticed on the way home the town I live in already had Christmas lights up.  I think it's too early.  :-?

Thanksgiving is about getting up at 2AM the day after and beating people up so you can get a $350 laptop at WalMart.

I'll agree with you on that one.

A local family decorates for every holiday celebrated in the U.S.  I mean they go all out for Valentines Day on through Christmas.  This year they skipped the Thanksgiving decorations all together, and are on Christmas.   :-?

Also, if retailers are so worried about not making the money this year ........ have more sales worth talking about!  I mean a 'One Day Only 10% off sale' is hardly a sale to have.  More people are going to discount online retailers who sell the exact same stuff at a lower price.

The only decorations I see are those big blow-up turkeys's that are 6 feet tall. I just want to go around with a BB gun and take them all out.

Thanksgiving is my family's favorite holiday of the year. It's about being together and being thankful to God for who we are, what we have and where we live. I am blessed beyond measure, pressed down, shaken and overflowing.

when i was younger my stepdad had a 7'6 blow up turkey and i had to trim the tree just so it would fit in the front yard, and sure enough some kid comes with a pelet gun and shot some holes in it.
