dad's big 6 point

Featured Replies

he killed it this morning in the really low light at 6:05 a.m. The brow tines were broken from we think fighting. 17 inch inside spread. He grossed 90 6/8 B/C and netted 87 7/8 B/C. In my mind huge for a 6 point.

That's a nice 6!  Congrats to you dad.

I just logged on here to vent about losing one.  About an hour before dark I shot a nice 8-pointer.  When I got to the place I shot him I saw a pile of stomach contents and blood (not a good sign).  Being a dummy, I tracked it about 35 yards into the woods (getting pretty good blood), but I kicked it up.  I didn't have a gun with me, and it was about to get dark, so I left.  I ate supper and went back with my wife (she stayed at the truck to blow the horn if I got lost).  I tracked it through a thick cutdown a couple of hundred yards and for over an hour and a half, then lost the blood trail.  I had found several puddles of blood, but couldn't find the buck.  I hate that, but I did everything I could to find him.  BTW, I had to call my wife on the cell phone and get her to blow the horn for me to find my way out.

I hate killing something and not finding it :(
