Scumbag Coaches

I am starting a list of scumbag coaches that have left their team high and dry. Feel free to add to the list:

Dennis Franchonie

Nick Saban

?

I do not know a lot about football, but we have the same thing in baseball. If owners can fire coachs at the drop of a hat, then why cant the coachs have the same lattitude.

Not a scumbag at all, but a shocker for some Lou Holtz Head coach of the New York Jets in 1976. He resigned with one game remaining in the season after going 3-10; less than one year into his five-year contract.

Petrino for the way he bailed on the Falcons.  He didn't even have the class to talk to the players, he just left a note on each of their lockers.

Petrino made the right move.  If he would have waited to finish the Falcon's season, the Arkansas position would be filled.

BUT... He should have told his players.  He didn't just walk out, he sneaked out.

The way Petrino left was not a class act, I am not going to argue that. I will say that I do not think he knew what he was getting himself into. In the college ranks he had a dictatorship style of leadership/coaching. I really don't think he realized how much pull a NFL player had on the team and staff and when he tried the same style the players didn't respond. Plain and simple he is a college coach.  He wanted to tell the players in the NFL how and when to do it and they didn't. I also think he crapped his pants with the whole Vick issue. I do wish him the best of luck in Arkansas. I think Singeltary wil be the new coach in Hotlanta next year.

Mack Brown left Tulane.

Mack Brown left North Carolina.

Now, the people in Texas can't get Mack Brown to move.

Sort of funny.

The owner of the Baltimore Colts for sneaking the team out of Baltimore at night and moving the team to Indianapolis takes the cake over anything any coach has done or will do.

Coaches should finish the season, however college and pro sports have evolved into big business and coaches quiting or being fired is part of the business. In the real world a person can quit or get fired from a job at any time. Why should coaches have to wait for a season to be over, that is why they work out all these escape clauses in their contracts. That is just my take on it.
