Wii Fishing Games

Featured Replies

Well I just got my hands on a wii and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a fishing game.  I have read all the reviews and all of the critics seem to be disapointed no matter what the title is.  I am looking for the most realistic thing to real bass fishing ofcourse (easier said than done).

Just go fish!  I own a Wii, but I'm not touching any outdoor game.  None of the companies care enough about the sport.  Even the ones that make popular shooting games won't even make good hunting games.  Just play other sports games, fish, or play games that let you do things you can't perform in real life.

I would love to be able to fish.  I am planning on going this Saturday and its suppose to be 43 and rain showers.  The problem is after work its already dark.  Looking for something to do to kill a little bit of time until I get more hours of sun.

I own the Rapala fishing game and the Bass Fisherman Challenge game both for the Playstation 2, and I must say, that although they can be fun to play for 30 minutes, the games just lack the realism of fishing. In one of the games it takes like 5 minutes to reel in a 3 or 4 pound bass on 10# test. The Rapala game is pretty good, graphic wise, the underwater environments are breathtaking and the fish look very realistic, although in that game the cranbaits won;t dive past 2 feet.

No video game, this day in age, will ever come close to the excitement of being in the outdoors doing it for real. I like videogames because they allow you to live inside a fantasy world, and participate in things that otherwise would be impossible. But since fishing is very much possible, I don't think the fishing games are compelling. I'd rather play Grand Theft Auto, or Resident Evil, or any other action adventure or shooting games.

As someone else put it, I don't think there is much of a demographic for fishing games, so companies don't spend much time effort or money on them. Most serious anglers are adults who would rather spend $50 on new equipment opposed to a video game. I think they can be beneficial to beginner anglers helping them get a feel for what the environment looks like underneath the water, or just to learn the in's and out's of it. But nothing compares to wetting a line in real life.

So I am in Sam's Club a few weeks ago and I see all these Wii things all over the place.

Since I am computer illetrate I could care less and have no idea what these Wii things do.

Three days later I have a conference with two of my clients and one is going crazy looking for a Wii for her boys.

So I tell her about Sam's Club and these Wii things all over the place.

She rushes to Sam's Club that evening and they are all gone.  That's right, all gone.

Last I spoke with her she was headed for Circuit City to be there when they opened this past Saturday as it was rumored that they were getting in a shipment of the Wii's.

No idea if she scored one or not.

Man, do I miss the fun of stuff or what?

Yeah, I haven't opened it yet but I am thinking about selling it on ebay.  They are going for 500 (250 profit).  With that I can almost buy a new avid/curado setup with the rebates now.

If I keep it I am thinking about getting Hooked.  At least I can play against people online.  Im sure there is nothing better than losing to a 12 year old.

@Jaskoh: Yea If I were you I would sell it. I have been told about the Wii price dropping from 250$ to 200$ some time soon in 2008 with brand new colors avalible. Thats a good way to earn a few hundred dollers as long as you can wait a few months to get a new Wii.

A bunch of guys at work got those things they seem pritty cool but I havent had the chance to play one yet.
