Back in the day, I used to be a trout fisherman.  I have three trout mounted that have collected a bit of dust over the years, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to clean this dust off without damaging the fish.

I will try to get pics up at some point, maybe with a "before and after" shot of each of them.

They are a 25" brown, 18.5" palomino and 19 brook.

Giant Brookie! Caught in lake I presume?I would just use a duster if that didnt work I would wet a paper towel and be careful on the fins/gills/tail.

Nope, caught in Little Kettle Creek in Potter County, PA

Its about as big as this one.  I still have yet to get a definitive answer as to what that one is, brookie or tiger trout.

I wasnt sure if the water would hurt it or not.

It looks like a Tiger Trout to me. I live in PA carbon county. Is the lehigh anywhere near kettle creek? They were catching a ton of tigers in the lehigh.

*Edit*- If I were you I would try the water solution, or windex on the back of the fish and see how it turns out. If it works well do the whole fish if not try something else.

If your mounts are like mine where a polyeurethane is applied, you might want to consider using compressed air like the cans of air they use to clean computers, keyboards, etc.

my father uses windex wipes to clean his.

Thanks fellas. I will give the windex wipes a shot and try them on the back of the fish.

I dont think the compressed air will work.  I believe the dust combined w/ some moisture and created a nasty little mixture that will not be easily removed.  I still may try it though, as it is a "dry" method.
