Help!  >>HEADACHES<<

I could use a little help from yall.  I've always had headaches, maybe 3-4 times a week, but h'm having these things every day, and their getting worse.  They start around 1pm everyday, and they last for several hours.  The only medicine that seems to work anymore is Excedrin.  I really don't want to go to the doctor over headaches, but at this rate I might have to.

Any advice?

You may want to try Relpax or Imitrex.  My dad gets severe headaches every now and then, enough to where he gets very sick and can't be in the light.

I would, however, check with a doctor before you start on these medications.  How long has it been happening?  If it's been for a while, you may need to go see one.  Those headaches could be a very serious problem.

See the Doc Hookem....every day is alot and they could be from anything. Best to let a pro diagnose it and fix it  ;)

So you would go to a Dr. if you thought you might have a broken arm but not for a broken head??

GO SEE A NEUROLOGIST

Headaches can be very simple or very complicated but if you pay close attention to the symptoms, schedules, triggers, etc, they are often figured out.  Sometimes it is as simple as diet, sometimes it's much more serious.

Neurologists are an easy visit, it's mostly discussion with the usual basic tests (follow my finger, reflex's etc)

Excellent advice, seeing that you are having them that often that is far from the norm. Are they migraines or pressure headaches? Any chance you are dehydrated? Eyes feel strained? Hope all is well and see a doctor.

Yup, trust LBH and I on this. Get things straightened out befor you get flat out migraines 4-6 days a week. GO GET CHECKED ASAP

At the risk of being ridiculed, shot down, boiled in oil, and so on, I am going to suggest a chiropractor, and before you all jump all over me, let me explain a few things. I am not talking about some of the fly by night quacks. Do your research, find a competent one.  I once had a severe issue with my neck that was so bad I was dizzy, nauseas, couldn't even stand up.  I spent 2 days in the hospital, MRIs' Cat Scans, neurologist, nobody could find anything wrong.  My chiropractor determined my neck was out of place and in a week had me completely back to normal.  My son was plagued with constant ear infections when he was young. We did the anti-biotics, tubes, everything. Nothing worked until the chiropractor explained why ear infections occurred and how I could prevent them. It worked, he never had another infection. Took my daughter when she was only several months old for maintenance adjustments and she is very rarely ever ill.  They may not be for everyone, but I sure believe in them.

Now... fire away

No good idea, but go to a neurologist first. Make sure it isnt anything serious.

Never would have thought of it myself but what Moby Bass says makes sense but id go to a nuerologist first because thats their territory first and they can rule out everything thats serius first and then try to get the minor stuff figured out as Tin2win posted

not trying to scare anyone but a girl at my schoool often had extreme heaches and migraines that kept her out of school occasionally and when they got it checked out it was a tumor, so id deffinatly say make sure its not serius first, i doubt that you have anything that serius because from the souns of it in your original post they arent quite that bad but still never hurts to mkae sure  :)

I went to a doctor and a neurologist first, before I did anything else.

In my case, the neurologist didn't have a clue as to what was wrong. His words were "It will probably clear up" You have no idea how bad I was, I couldn't even stand up. When I turned my head to look at something, my eyes would follow later. I have never experienced anything like that in my life.  You would be amazed at how a small misalignment of bones will cause all sorts of problems.  And the longer it goes, the more difficult to fix.  I have some calcium in my neck because of a motorcycle accident years ago and my failure to realign those bones caused them to compensate and form deposits. Muscles have a funny way of adjusting when things are out of place and eventually the pain stops and you think everything is ok, but its not.

UPDATE

They had to cancel my appointment, the doc was sick, had a family emergency, or something.  Anyway, I asked my uncle who just arrived in town for Christmas.  He's a ER doctor in Little Rock.  He told me that a major cause for headaches this time of the year is from dehydration.  So I'll try to drink more over the next few days and see how that turns out.

My Dad and Brothers suffered from Migranes-this is what i was told they were.

so I'm next, was getting them myself. WELL GUESS WHAT- sinuis headaches is what they are for me-and Found out by a doctor- so go to a doc.

Now I went to a allergy doc-he put all outdoors on my right arm, and foods on my left arm.  My right arm was a big mass of red rashes and bumps-explains why my allergys get sever enough to turn into a sinuis headache-I now take a allergy shot once a week for the next 9 months. Its been helping I noticed all ready-My nose doesn't drip constantly, and so far no headaches since October ;)

Keep a open mind too

I believe in Chiropracter as well, kept me from having a back surgery.

But you do got to find a good one ;)
