The NFL and politicians

Featured Replies

I saw where the senate or one of those big whig groups threatened the NFL to lose its antitrust exemption. They said they would legislate if the NFL didn't put a certain game on free tv.

What the heck is this good use of my tax dollars?

I hate greed as much as the next guy but doesn't this violate the rules of buisiness principals?

Don't we have something more important for our politicians to do?

If the politicians want to legislate important things maybe they should look at .. oh I don't know say oil or energy price scams.!

Sorry just my ranting and raving!

Matt,

Follow the money.

It's just that simple.

For a group of people who cannot secure our boarders but can get the NFL to broadcast the Dallas game on two major TV networks and their own NFL network shows what power our politicians really have.

It must be fun to be a professional politician.

The principle is "might makes right." I don't know how old you are, but a long time ago, all home games were blacked out for their viewing area, period, no exceptions. It was the politicians who forced the present policy of lifting the blackouts if the game sells out 72 hours before kickoff.

Rumor has it that the reason was that Congressmen wanted to be able to watch the Redskin games, but regardless, it was politics that gave us the present policy.
