I'm back!

Featured Replies

Let me just start by saying good job to Glenn and the mods for keeping BassResource.com on top from what I can see. Some of you may have noticed my absence from the forum, and I'm glad to see some familiar screenames and many new ones.

In august I started my marine biology studies at eckerd college in st petersburg florida. The school is right on the water of tampa bay, so i have been able to fish whenever I want.

Long story short, since im 200 yards from the ocean, I have not been able to do any decent bass fishing. When I got my bass pro shops catalog today, I realized that I had totally abandoned my family here at BassResource.com. Anyway, its great to be back, and I will be posting some great stories and pictures in the other species section soon!

Glad you decided to post again. How are your studies going? Would have a hard time studying 200 yds. from ocean ;)...

Well I've already started on my marine bio track. Eckerd college is unique in that you can start on your major from the beginning, there is no core requirement you have to get out of the way. It isnt an easy major by any means, but I'm going to stick with it no matter what.

Being so close to the water does take some discipline , but I have gotten used to it. There is a dock on a seawall where I have caught some sweet fish.

My biggest fish so far was a disapointment, but still a helluva catch; a 4 foot wide, 6 foot long stingray that took 2 hours to land. I have hooked a few tarpon (none landed yet), and have caught some nice grouper, the biggest bieng a 10 pound gag. I also have 4 cobia under my belt, each about 3 feet long. As I said, I will put some pics on the "other species" forum.
