Most coachs, most agents would have used one of the biggest sports stages of the year  as a platform for news to tell the Washington Redskins he's retiring last night, but not Joe Gibbs.

Joe Gibbs was always a class act, no matter how much of a rivalry there has been between NFC EAST Foes, Gibbs always coached by example, led by example.    

     Joe Gibbs is and was always a class act.    A great human being.

My hats off to the fans and Skins organization.   Great Christian man as well.

I know this year was hard on him, especially the loss of Sean Taylor.  I think he really looks at those players like his own children.

Washington will miss him as a person and a coach.  Apparently, he did decide to stay on as an advisor to the team owner, which should benefit them greatly.

I will miss Gibbs, but I thinks its time for a change. Gibbs was golden, in a whole different era. This is a new generation of football players. I'm glad to hear he will be advising though.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think you're right.  Parcells found out that "old-school" doesn't work anymore and I think Gibbs may be seeing that, too.  He will be missed.  

i remember gibbs saying that he wouldnt leave washington unless he was either fired or had the team in a position to consistantly win or maybe a championship.i think that he feels the team is good enough now to  turn them over to a new coach and win games.and he probably saw this as a a good time to leave now that they are ending a season on a fairly high note hoping they can carry it over into 08

You won't hear many, if any, bad words about Joe Gibbs. I was glad to see him come back around for a little while even though I'm not a Skins fan.

I wonder who his replacement will be?
