Pete Carroll to Atlanta Falcons?

Has anyone heard about Pete Carroll of Southern Cal interviewing for the Atlanta Falcons job?

On ESPN radio this afternoon it was stated that Reggie Bush's agent states in his book that he gave Bush $300,000 while Bush was at USC.

If this is true, and Carroll sees the handwriting on the wall regarding NCAA probation, that could be a reason he would leave USC for Atlanta.

Carroll was a bust in the NFL before he went to USC so I was very surprised to hear he was interviewing for the job.

And there will probably be an opening for the Colts head coaching job after this season and I wonder if the Colts would be interested in Carroll?

Just curious if you guys living close to Atlanta or in California, or anywhere else, have heard any news?

Thanks for the feedback.

Half of Sportscenter this morning was about the Dolphins and Tony Sparano, and Carrol possibly going to the Falcons. He met with certain members of the Falcons organization but was never officially offered the job. They also said their sources said he wouldn't take it if offered.

If the Colts' job is open, I'd be surprised if they went after Carroll. I think they're too well run to not go after a coach with proven NFL success.

He wasnt bad as a head coach, with the Pats he was 10-6 the first year and won the division. The next year they made the play-offs at 9-7, and his last year they were .500. And those were Drew Bledsoe days ::)

But he has it made with USC, plus they have great chances to win a national title next year.

i cant see any reason other than the almighty dollar as to why he would leave. He does have an alright program where hes at and he is elvis to those people there, also its the falcons he could do sooooo much better than that ;D

Cajun 77,

According to the same reporter on ESPN Radio, Dungees has said he wants to retire when he reaches 50.

His son has enrolled in school in Tampa.

He won the Super Bowl last year and although everyone is putting their money on the Pats, if he wins a second straight Super Bowl the reporter said it is a done deal that he is gone.

If he loses he may want to leave the Colts and try to do something else with his life.

Should be interesting to see what happens with Carroll at USC and the other open coaching jobs in the NFL.

Petey boy better stay at USC where he can hide behind the PAC-10; his combined NFL record as head coach was 33-31.

New England finished with a 106 record and took first place in the AFC East. The Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins 173 at home in the opening round of the playoffs before losing against the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 76. In the 1998 season, the Patriots finished 97 and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the playoffs. A subpar 1999 season followed in which the Patriots jumped to a 6-2 record but collapsed after their bye week to finish 8-8. The second half of the season resulted in Carroll's firing.

After Carroll left the Pats won 3 Super Bowls and went 16-0 this year under Bill Belichick.
