Saving screen shots?

Featured Replies

I feel like a rookie for asking this but if you really don't know, how are you gonna learn unless you ask?  How do you guys save a screen shot from places like Google Earth and even screen shots on your computer?  I am puzzled how to do this and I'm sure it's something simple.   :-[

Thanks Russ, I was gonna PM you but your sig. said you were offline.  That is exactly what I was looking for.  Running in stealth mode are we?

There's also a free progam called PrintKey.  It's a free download.  Just Google PrintKey.

Many thanks to you too Sir Mike.  ;)

Nope, that function was made for mods on other forums, it's not needed here.  I have no need to be stealth, if anything, I would think that knowing a mod is watching is more of a deterrent.   Either way, I don't use it;)

I am sharing the computer right now, we are taking turns surfing :)

It was just weird because none of the mods are showing up in the users online except Glenn.  Maybe it's something on my computer.

You really don't need to buy or download anything as long as your keyboard has a "PrintScreen" button. If it does, just press it whenever you want to take a screenshot. Nothing will happen but a screenshot will be put onto a virtual clipboard. Open up a program like Paint. Press "Ctrl+V" and the image will be pasted into Paint. Then you can edit it with Paint's tools or just save it.

Has been that way for a bit.  The only ones who seem to show up (unless I'm just missing the others) are roadwarrior and fluke.

I noticed when 5BL was posting earlier, even then it showed his status as offline.

Dan, thanks for the help. It worked.

No reason unless you own a mac to d/l a program. If you have the print screen button (top right) on your keyboard, press it and then go to paint click edit and then click paste. click the square icon and outline whatever you want  a picture of then right click and click copy, then click file new and then paste.

The PrntScrn, cntl+ PrntScrn, and alt + PrntScrn all do different things.  You then paste it into a Word doc, browswer.. whatever.  Problem is, it's a bitmap - low resolution.  I like to use SnagIt for higher quality screenshots.

Yes, admins/mods can be in stealth mode - appear offline when they're really here.  I don't use it, but some of the mods do.  So, you never know when you're being watched.  ::)

I don't care who y'are, that there is funny.  :-* :-* :-*

theres also a great FREE program called irfanview that views pics, plays slideshows, does screenshots, records vid....I have used for years...never bothered with the print screen thing cause as Glenn says it saves as a bmp=poor quality/big file

try it http://www.irfanview.com/
