Ehy Fellas; When I lived in New Orleans , I was floored by WWOZ the greatest listener sponsored FM station in the world. I post about this station a lot. The closer they get to Mardi Gras, the funkier this ststion gets! I woke up to the Meters,Dr.John and Prof Longhair. Give it a listen: wwoz.com, go to listen live, click your player, turn it up and BOOGIE

PS If you ain't feelin wjhats on, they switch DJ's every 4 hours , no play list

They play it all: R&B,JAZZ< BLUES< BLUEGRAS>SWAMP FUNK>ROCK AND ROLL (not rock but Little Richard, the Killer and such) Spirituals and gospel  ENJOY IT

I'll check it out.

Hey muddy this is a long shot but a few years ago there used to be a beer commercial on. They had a guy with a deep voice narrating. They had some very light jazz in the background saxaphone I think. Maybe 30 seconds worth of music in the background. I loved that tune. Do you happen to know who or what it was?

Does anyone know for that matter?

this is what radio used to be back in the early days of FM

You would not only pick a station, but a particular DJ.

They had their own playlists, and the music. was out of the mainstream and usually outstanding.
