I can't believe this. I actually want to try squirrel meat now.

If only I had a reliable source for dry ice. ;)

Nope, I've shot many other squirrels before. This was the first one I shot, cleaned and cooked entirely without adult supervision, however.

Rabbits are surprisingly delicious.I ate my pet rabbit... :-[

Thats the funniest thing I've heard for a considerable time. ;D ;D ;D

Bucketmouth,

Is that a wood burning stove you're cooking on?  Man, you guys are "country".  From the looks of that, I doubt this is your first squirrel.

Thanks for sharing.

Hahah actually thats a gas stove and i cooked it at my friends house. My friend is from a family of 11, so one squirrel doesn't go very far lol We strategically prolonged the cleaning so we could cook it while most of the others went to the library.

Hey, in big families, its survival to the fittest ::) ;D

Theres a really nervy squirrel thats in our yard every day when I get home from school, so it wont be long 'till another furry vermit is on the cast iron skillet. *licks chops*

PS

Spell check rocks!!! haha thanks glenn, now I dont look as "country" as I am! ;D

You may actually like it.  Being a hillbilly and all, I have eaten my fair share of squirrel when I was younger.  I haven't eaten one in years.  My wife has a pet squirrel so now it would be like taking a bite out of my Labrador. :-/

I took Home Ec. my senior year. Needed a filler class.

Anywho, the teacher told us we should bring in some things to cook from time to time. So me being me ;) , I went out that evening, got a limit of fat fox squirrels, cleaned them up and took them to school the next morning.

We had half the teachers in the school in the kitchen trying to get some of that squirrel gravy and biscuits.

I need to go out and get a few squacks.

Not to jack the thread, but:

Hey Burley,

That reminds me of my high school FFA days. Back then, each club on campus had the opportunity to sponsor a faculty "coffee" each month throughout the year. Ours was in February during FFA week. Every other club had donuts, danishes, coffee, etc. at their "coffees". Being the future farmer chapter, we always had somewhat better fare than the rest, so the teachers would ALL attend ours.

We FFA officers would hang out in the home ec. room serving the teachers (refilling coffee, throwing away trash, etc.) On our table we always had some backstrap and gravy, brains and eggs, head cheese, and calf fries (along with bacon, eggs, biscuits, etc.). On this particular morning the calf fries were in a bowl next to some sausage balls. I was standing behind the table as a frail young lady rookie teacher passed. "I know these are sausage balls," she said, "are these sausage balls, too?" as she pointed at the calf fries. Most of the old veteran teachers knew better. I looked over at my Ag teacher and he winked back at me. "Uh, yes, ma'am they're sausage balls, too," I said with a smile. The whole room erupted in laughter as she put some on her plate. That was one of the funniest times I remember in high school. ;D
