Alright in resposne to my prior post, you have pushed my curriosity button what is it meant by pegging a weight? Do you mean the bullet weights that screw in or am I missing something?

Tru-Tungsten has a very cool weight pegging stop! It is a very small rubber stop that you can slide up and down your line or push it up to your weight, it works great.

You can also use rubber pegs that are more or less a shim. Short cone shaped rubber pieces that you insert into the weight and pull through using the fatter end to hold the weight to your line in place. Then simply trim off the excess ad each end of the weight. check out the link below for what I'm talking about. A very cheap way to peg.

I keep a empty 35mm film container full of tooth pics cut in half just for peggin weights.   Just jam the pointed end into the worm weight from the bottom or top and break off the rest.

Another technique for this is the Parasite Clips that hold the weight on the hook and also reduce the soft plastic from sliding down the hook shank - these things are awsome.

It's hard to beat the cost and effectiveness of the plain old toothpick.

But I have used some sinker stops made by water gremlin I think. They are just small bullet shaped split shots.

You can also use a toothpick to keep your plastic in place on the hook too.

I agree with shad_master on this one. I too use the parasite weights they are great. They also save me wear and tear on my plastics too. They have clips as well that work awesome for weightless fishing.

I'm not completely clear on the purpose of pegging.  To keep it from hanging up?  I fish very, very rocky cover often.  Should I be pegging?

Rubber peg it is no hassle and works great. Also easy on your line and makes a very quick light weight Carolina rig set up.

I have never peged a weight. I use the small red plastic thingies that you squeeze with pliers that will slide up and down your line. Just squeeze and set the adjustment you want. Just a personal preference.
