The SK Red Eye Shads are, and are not your typical "trap" style bait. While they shimmy and shake on the retrieve like a traditional trap bait, the big draw to the SK RE baits is that they also shimmy and shake as they sink when you stop reeling. A regular trap just sinks like a rock with minimal/no action.

The Red Eye baits are deadly on suspended fish because they actually swim down when you stop reeling.

The action on the drop is why I bought a couple. I haven't tried them yet though. I doctor my lures a lot and the first thing I did was peel off those ridiculous red eyes. I then used vinyl fabric paint in pearl and black for realistic eyes. The eye sockets are large and perfect for large realistic eyes. I bought the "green pearl" color that should make for a decent shad or young bluegill mimic.

I really like these lures. Like others have said, fish them like any lipless. The only problem I had last week was keeping the crappie off of them. I caught a dozen crappie fishing a shad colored red eye.

Catching bass is a blast but anytime you can't keep the crappie off your line is a d**n good day fishin'!

I like the look of the Red Eye Shads, but I have not noticed them being any different in the water.  I catch about as much on the the diamond shad, also by SK, but I catch more than both on the cheap-o Lews Speed Trap.

is there any rule to go by as for fishing the black/chrome and the blue/chrome i have always heard that one should be fished on cloudy days the other one on blue bird days. Any truth to that?

I don't know about anyone else but I have caught more fish on the RedEye Sexy Shad this year than I have on every other trap style bait I have used over the past 3 years.  Most all of them have come on a reel and stop retrieve.

I've always heard chrome on shiny days and gold on cloudy days.

Sounds like the downward swimming action on the pause is working like they intended.

Hey Brian, I had the same problem this weekend! I was catching a lot of bass on my red eye shad and my friend wanted to try it. It was on my baitcaster ( he never use one before ) and he also sailed it in a tree, but is was ok because I had a few more and it was a good laugh.

Fish them like any lipless crankbait. Rip them from vegitation, pull them through heavy cover, yo-yo them down to deeper water, or just retrieve them to cover a flat. As for colors, all of my lipless crankbaits are one of 4 colors. Blue back, chrome sides. Black back, chrome sides. Firetiger. Or Craw.

Sexy shad is supposed to be awesome too. I haven't tried it yet though.

X2...Sexy shad is a great color to try. I have caught a lot of good chunks on them up to 6 1/2 lbs. in the series 3, 5, & 6

So far, my Red Eye Shad in Sexy Shad has put alot of nice LMB in the boat. I will be trying it on SMB this weekend.

Have you guys been changing out the stock hooks?  That was my only problem with this bait was I was losing fish.  Switched out the hooks to excaliber rotating trebles and have been having much better success.
