A Tip To Save You A Little Money.

Featured Replies

Ok this is not a fishing tip but a money saving tip none the less. I use expensive razor blades the Mach 3 blades. Darn things are expensive haha. Anyway, if you want to make 1 blade last 6-8 months or close to it. Yep 1 blade can last that long. All you have to do is blow dry the blade once you have finished using it. Clean it the same way by running it under water just blow dry it dry before setting it back into it's carriage.

Water is what makes them get dull not our beard hair. Small rust develops on the edge making them get dull. I am using the same blade since September and it is still very sharp and doesn't cut me.

Another way to make them last is to dip them in alcohol to wick away the water. Alcohol will dry and not rust them. So perhaps some of you that are blow dryer challenged  can use some old aftershave or rubbing alcohol.

I picked this up from another site, but I have been trying it for like a year and have only used to blades since last Oct. It also helps to store away from any moister.

Thanks frogtog! I have a gilette fusion with 4 blades, a pack of 4 heads for the dang thing is 22 dollars, thats more than wut i payed for the razor. I went thru a pack a year. Thanks again!

So its the water that dulls the blades.

And I thought I was a macho man!  ;D

Yeah really.  After a week and a half, a Mach III cartridge would barely cut hot butter.

lets all try WD-40 too! who is up for that? :D

I just quit using the Mach 3 turbo after 15+ years.  I went on a trip and forgot to pack my razor so I went to Publix and bought a 6 pack of cheap disposable razors for 5 bucks.  To my surprise they work just as good if not better and last just as long as the $22 cartridge refills.

I just use my pocket knife.

15 years for a Mach III?  :-?

Anywho, I did something similar last year on vacation.  Forgot the razor and my head was getting a little fuzzy.  Couldn't find a cheap Mach III, so I went with a package of disposables.  Worst razor I've ever used.

For a sexy beast like myself, it has to be Mach III or Fusion.

Tell me about  it. ;D

Burley is that a real ACU hat? if so... how do you like the double thick bill?

Meijer's makes their own brand of Mach IIIs for a couple of bucks less per pack. They seem to last just as long. They sell just as fast as they get them in is the problem. Very hard to find them.

Don't have a clue...

Need to try the Schick Xtreme3, it works best for shaving the head.  It bends in the middle to contour to the curve of the scalp, you get a full width of the blade cut on every stroke.  Shave my head every day and can use one for a month, and you can get a 20 pack for like $20 at Sam's.

Amen, brother.

On the campus where I work, Gillette (or whoever makes them) was passing out free MACH III razors by the bucketful.  They know it's the replacement blades and not the handles that makes them all their money.  (Kind've like printer ink cartridges).  So, although I haven't tested your, assuming this is true, this would be awesome!  I guess it would work for other razors equally well.

I promise that it works, I have been doing it for like a year now. I first got wind of it on the Clark Howard Talk Show. Go ahead and try it for a while and you will say "WOW" ( You have to do it every time you use it )
