The insanity begins: What are your local Gas Prices?

LOL. I think burley is on the verge of a killing spree. I imagine the first post of an actual lawsuit will send him over the edge.

While I agree with the concept that there is that beforementioned .1% of cases where an gouging laws are needed, I get VERY nervous when they user terms like "fair price" and "unreasonable profit" without EXPLICIT definitions of what those are. Having such vague laws is VERY dangerous.

As to the vendors.... Off the top of my head, I know 1 of $4+ stores is an exxon and the lower ones still seem to all be Citgos with some exceptions the independants like "Wills" and "Clemmers" are all high as I imagine their distributors are not as nice to them.

Also while I complain at the price at the pump, I know these guys have to pay distributors for gas and usually do not turn much profit off of gasoline. I would really like to see comparisons of prices from those distributors. Those are the prices that really set the cost of the pump. I mean if the dude is paying $4.00 /gal from the tanker trunk, he has to pass that off to the consumer. I would not expect him to take a loss.

It's just that the level of ignorance shown over the last three to four days has been sickening.

I do not know how true the story is, but I heard from three different people that the manager of a local store almost had a riot on his hands after he closes his pumps in order to keep some gas on hand for emergency supply.  The story is that several customers came into the store and cornered the guy.

Had that been me, there may have been a few less gas buyers... :-X

You may not, but many many many people expect them to take a loss.  Seeing as how cheap gas is their birthright and all.  Constitutionally guaranteed ya know.

To clarify the cost discrepancy. The Citgo refinery is located in Lousiana, the Exxon in Texas right where Ike went through. So that explains why Citgo is still cheap, while Exxxon is not.

I agree 100% with Burley, even though he is a cubs fan. ;)

Last night some stations were still at 3.599, where it was.  But one station jumped 10 cents.  I filled up the jeep and got 3 cans with my grocery store discount.  I expect more increases today.  PA still is in the mid $3.00 range according to this. http://www.californiagasprices.com/price_by_county.aspx

Once again, this situation demonstrates the need for more refining capacity.....but it's not going to happen.
