Sad sad story

Well as some of you might have noticed the tropics has been very active for the gulf coast. Two weeks ago Gustav had come into the gulf and hit South Central Louisiana. I live just east of were it hit and if you follow hurricanes the east side is the more desructive side of the storm. We faired out ok we didn't have power for about a week. This didn't get to me that bad it was just a little inconvienent for my wife. The part that realy upset me was the Gulf of Mexico was sitting in my bass fishing area for two days. A couple of days had gone by so me and a buddy decided to go see the damage after hearing that the area had a big fish kill. We went out and did so so we ended up with 18 red fish (no big supprise) and 10 dinks. It kept our hopes alive since we were still recovering from Katrina. Then Ike comes through and brings the gulf right back in with a 8' tiddle surge. I hope some of the bass survived threw all this salt water. I won't be able to go out till Tuesday to see what is left behind after these two storms. I'm disgusted to even think that it might be another three to five years till the bass fishing gets back to normal. I guess I just had to vent about mother nature.

The hurricanes do damage for now but Mother Nature will rebound, some of the marshes of Southwest Louisiana were just coming back from Rita and now we have Ike. The best part the saltwater has which had prop off before Rita is better than ever which I know doesn't encourage freshwater anglers but it will all work out for the best.

It could be worse. Just be thankful that you are alright. I do understand your pain though. When Ivan hit it pushed a lot of saltwater into lake Shelby and destroyed the bass fishing.
