Tackle Legend passes away

Featured Replies

Local lure making legend Billy Phillips has died. He was an innovator and created the Go Go Girl spinnerbait and many other baits that became huge producers in the 70s and continue today. He was also a charter member of the Jackson Bass Club with my Granddad and a few other guys. His fishing wasn't limited to lure making as he fished in 2 Bassmaster Classics through the Federation in the 70s. He was one of the Pioneers of bass fishing around West Tennessee and he will be missed

I'm very sorry for your loss.  Sounds like he had some great experiences in life with fishing the Classic twice and being a lure maker and all.

I hope you spoke with him about his life and his accomplishments before he passed.

We don't do this enough and all of the folklore and funny stories, etc. are lost forever.

Sorry about his passing.
