Bought another 50 lbs. of tomatoes this week, have half canned, should get the other half done this weekend.  That will make 100 lbs. of tomatoes canned in the last two months.

Bought 20 lbs. of chicken and 15 lbs. of pork at Sam's last week.  The FoodSaver is worth it's weight in gold.  ;)

Freezer is filling up and deer season isn't even here yet. Hope I can match last year's total of 5 kills.

Weather is cool enough now to start cutting wood as well. I love fall.

Hey Burley; Do you add fresh basil to your canned tomatoes? If not, try a batch with some, it makes good macaroni sauce when packed this way, it's an Italian Thing 8-)

Nope, just peel them, cook them for a bit, pack them in jars with a tablespoon of vinegar, seal and boil for 45 minutes.

5 of those deer are about the size of one Iowa deer.

I'm going to try to lay off the spotted fawns this year.  Well, at least after the first one.

Until then, if it's brown, it's down!  ;)

Last month a small male with very faint spots ran into our F-150 at about 45mph....long story short, after a quick call to the sheriff's dept, we had venison in the freezer a week before bow season even opened.   :)
